Hi all we are still plodding along. Life has got busy. I've been busy with general house stuff and my diploma and work so not really spending any unbudgeted money. I have a plan of action for next year already I just need to finalise our budget.. With gas and electric gone up its going to be very tight for us. But I hope to end the year still debt free. That's the main goal anything else is a bonus. I've had to reduce my hours at work due to My health so its just a case of trying to make it through next year without incurring any debt.
I hope everyone is well. I haven't managed to catch up on posts unfortunately

Well I’m glad November is at an end, I’d been out of hospital less than a week when I had to take my youngest in. I also had to transport her on to another hospital as there were no ambulances to move her.I’m investing in a ‘bag for emergency days’ that has more than the bare minimum I normally have to hand. I’m very glad of my charged power bank though, it was a real blessing! As were my saved crosswords and sudoku!I’m also glad I plan my meals and delivery slots for times my eldest can deal with things.Oh and I’ve made the end of the month with £20 spare. That’s a first in a while and shocking given parking fees in hospitals!Life happens, live it well.18

Sympathy Willow. Sounds like you,ve been having a stressful time. It does take a while to recover your equanimity after these events.
We've reached the stage now where emergency hospital admissions are not expected and keep hospital bags made up with the essentials. Also with the bag is a written list of last minute essentials not to be forgotten like ohone, charger,, medications. etc
It's scary how the brain goes to mush when there's an ambulance waiting outside your front door.8 -

Another strange question for people in here, as I know some of you keep chickens.....
With the bird flu outbreaks, I was under the impression all poultry has be to kept indoors at all times. Is that the case or not?
Whilst delivering mail yesterday, I opened the side gate at one house intending to look for a safe/secure/dry place to leave a parcel. But I was greeted by half a dozen chickens who promptly started heading in my direction! The gate was firmly pulled back into place, and I left with their parcel (leaving them a note to let them know).
But is it OK to currently have their birds running around the back garden, or is that a breach of the current rules? And if it's a breach, should i be reporting it to someone - and if so, who?

cw18 I think these owners are in breach of the rules. I think some weeks ago DEFRA or some other body demanded that all chickens etc must be kept under cover or at least kept in confined conditions. Perhaps the owners haven't been following the news and even having a few pet birds running free in a back garden is breaking the law.
Avian flu is still spreading fast around the country. Can't recall the exact source of the ruling but if you Google something like "Bird Flu Law requiring all chickens to be confined" I'm sure youwill find the correct source to report this to.
PS You could try this contact for starters:
If you suspect any type of bird flu in poultry or captive birds you must report it immediately by calling the Defra Rural Services Helpline on 03000 200 301.4 -
It is a breach even for pet chickens to be out, but I doubt reporting it will lead to anything happening for such a small backyard flock (just being realistic defra will be kept busy dealing with bigger fish so to speak and won’t have time to attend all small breaches) but it’s defra if you do want to report.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Oh good point, I’m in Scotland and ours have been shut in for ages but I don’t know if the date is different in England.
