Hi everyone.  I wear converse a lot and my white ones look grubby.  Can I put them in the washing machine with anything to brighten them up ? Bleach ?

Converse shouldn’t be put in the wash as they are canvas rather than leather and it dissolves the glue. I always give mine a scrub with a brush and washing up liquid in the sink, soak the laces and hang outside to dry. I wear white converse for about 8 months of the year so I feel your pain 😉

I’ll give that a go I live in mine and wear them with dresses.  They look ok with jeans but grubby on the bottom of a dress.  I don’t want to buy new ones.
  • I’ve washed converse in the machine before too, I just bung them in tbh, not had any issues.

  • Well, the converse website itself says they shouldn’t been machine washed, everyone will have to use their own judgement 😬
