First grocery shop of the month at L*dl when they open this morning, wonder how much prices will have increased since last week. Pity they don't put grocery prices on their website, would be really helpful. Not a big shop, just some basics for batch cooking.

Aldi do put prices on their website and although I wouldn’t dream of suggesting a price cartel it’s remarkable how often their prices are the sameIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!7

Another 42p across my shop, could have been worse. Just quickly compared my L*dl receipt with Ald1 and it would have been cheaper to shop there for certain items. It's just a bit further to drive but have noticed that L*dl opened another store literally around the corner from our local Ald1 so I could do both in one trip.3

For those with the Lidl app, have you noticed the new 'reward' scheme change? Previously you got a free bakery item at £50, £2 free at £100, & £10 free once you've reached £200 in the month. Now it's still the free bakery item & £2, but it's a free item at £150 & 10% once you've spent £250! I do a big shop at the beginning of the month, then just buy fresh things the rest of the month, so will only get 10% off a smaller shop, eg £4 off a £40 shop 😓 the £10 used to come in quite handy, could top up on washing powder or a few treats for the end of the year...Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Jackie, I've found that the water from the steamer (after steaming veg) makes really good stock for soup etc. I'm not using the freezer at the moment but when I am and can't use the steamer water immediately, I just freeze it for later.

Working from home today, have had to resort to thermals already, having an underactive thyroid is not fun. But at least the car hasnt moved. Tea is going to be oven chips and breaded fish in our mini-oven. We still have quite a bit of home grown fruit and veg to eat, DH has done really well with his raised beds this year, it must have saved us a fortune.7 -
Wr,ve had a fruit and veg patch for many years. In the early days i used to record what I picked and mentally charge myself to see what I,d saved. Wish I'd kept up the habit. Would probably be running into a small fortune after all these years. But it,s not only just about money saving but the pleasure of just being able to pop into the garden and pick freshly grown stuff st your convenience
i suspect with the cost of living crisis many more people will experiment with home growing next year if they have the space.10 -
