I got an email about the changes to the rewards at Lidl. Doesn't make one iota of difference to me, as I never even get the free bakery item! To get to Lidl I have to walk a round trip of 2.5 mile in the opposite direction to work. I pass Aldi on my way home from work, and if I'm off work it's less than a mile round trip walk to shop there.
I believe the second free gift is from the cleaning range - that was certainly the indication from a post they made on FB.
If I reached the £250 late in the month with another small shop to do, I'd just NOT use the app (would have to hope there weren't any coupons I wanted to use). That way you'd surely get the discount on your big shop at the start of the next month?

Aldi do a click and collect service. All grocery prices are listed on there.3

Near the bottom of the page you can look at categories like "bakery" or "chilled" etc.

Closest store I can access that does it is 24.5 miles away - so a 49 mile round trip
I only knew they offered the service because I'd seen some press announcements about it on FB during the pandemic.SuperMoose said:Here you goNear the bottom of the page you can look at categories like "bakery" or "chilled" etc.

I knew the Lidl offer was going to finish at the end of August and I hoped to get one last £10 coupon but with holidays I didn’t even manage enough to get a £2. The app was a pain to use, it took forever to open on my phone ( a very ancient but perfectly usable iPhone 5) so I won’t bother going forward
our nearest Lidl has moved to a new store on the bypass. Quite literally opposite is a new Aldi. It’s not unusual to see people taking their lives in their hands nipping across the dual carriageway if they can’t get something in one or other shop.It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!5 -
My nearest Lidl's is a 8 mile round trip by car so not worth going unless I'm on the way back from my sis-in-laws in Faversham, but a new one is in the process of being built on the outskirts of Chatham and I will pass it when I take my grandsons to work or pick them up so I may have a look occasionally, but I would never spend £250 a month in there
there is only me at home, and my monthly food-only budget is £60.00. :)and about a third of that goes on fruit and veg. With a big top up shop about every 3-4 months

Hi. I would like to join in here if I may. Have been doing grocery challenge for 8 months now and am still finding ways to cut grocery bill. Now it is time to try to cut other bills. Had water meter read last week and they have decreased our standing order by £13.00 a month so we have been getting it right there. However I plan to go through all bills and try to reduce where possible. Home insurance is due at beginning of October so will be looking around. Taking steps not to use oven more than twice a week, we have all laminate floors so sweeping more and hoovering less. Drying washing outside, not even putting towels in tumble dryer now. Batch cooking. We have grown runner beans, tomatoes, Strawberries and raspberry’s in the garden which has saved us a bit. We used to always shop at Tescos and since pandemic had shopping delivered. We now het one shop from Tescos once a month to get items that we can’t get in Aldi and walk to Aldi for everything else. Saves petrol and food has been much cheaper.
have loved reading other posts. Will be trying soaking rice and oats to reduce cooking time and saving hot water from kettle in a flask. Am still reading through as I have been very slow to find this thread.
also someone mentioned logging saves. Think I might do that this year to lift spirits when the bigger bills come in.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,
