You know your court, have you tried looking for listing for it? I have seen some posts on the forum about court lists but my search will take as long as yours. I found this: -

Seeing as it’s looking like I’ll be attending a hearing on Wednesday, does anyone have any stand out tips that will help me to win this thing? You guys have been super helpful up to this point - I will refer to my original defence but just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything out. Thanks in advance0

Make sure you take all your paperwork (defence, witness statement and evidence) and you can find salient points easily using little stickers for example. Know your case thoroughly, take a spare copy of WS in case claimant tries the old "we didn't receive the defendant's WS judge"! Arrive early to leave time for parking, going through security checks and toilet. Have a bottle of water with you. Do not be enticed into a side room "for a little chat with the claimant or their rep". Just politely refuse and say you will save it for the judge. When you win, don't forget to ask for your costs. Good luck for Wednesday.1

@Le_Kirk thank you, that’s all very helpful. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but all of this was done such a long time ago - what is the difference between my defence and Witness Statement? As I recall I sent my defence via email and something else was sent in the post.0

They are different statements and you just need to print them out (your copy, and the exhibits you appended to your WS as well) re-read them all to familiarise yourself with what you put, and take copies with you of your submissions AND their submissions so you can follow the hearing when their rep points out 'page 26 of the Claimant's bundle' or whatever.PRIVATE 'PCN'? TURN UP and arrive early, to get through security, and refuse the little chat that their rep will sidle up and request 'in a side room'!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you both. Feeling a little bit nervous as I didn't think they'd take it this far! Seems incredibly unfair seeing, as their machines weren't working and I had been given what I thought was a valid ticket from the receptionist at the train station. If I end up losing, will the claim total more than the £290 I've been quoted?1

Less of course! The NEWBIES thread second post tells you this. Less than the claim because of what you will say about the added fake 'debt recovery fee'. An argument which is fully covered in the Template Defence.
