Well, just do what you feel is right. I’m happy with my Vaillant Combi.

I would be very wary of using a combi boiler if there is a long pipe run between the boiler and your hot taps.  If the new pipework goes from the boiler to where your hot water cylinder used to be and from there to the taps things could be very bad.  I bought a house with a combi boiler that had been plumbed that way and I had to run-off at least a bucket full of cold water trapped in the pipes before the water out of a hot tap would run hot.  And that wastes a lot of energy because a bucket full of hot water ends up trapped in the pipes and that heat is wasted if the water has cooled down before you run the tap again.
    Is the heat wasted?

If the pipe is within the bundling the heat will be dissipated through the structure of  the building and will raise the temp of the building accordingly, this will offset energy put into the system via the dedicated heating pipes, whilst this may not be your primary aim it is not wasted.

Point taken.  The pipes were run under the floor so in winter the heat was not wasted and in summer it was.  A lot of water was potentially wasted.  I used to collect a bucket and a half of water when taking a shower and use it to flush the toilet.  But with a hand basin that was not possible.

In case Archergirl is still deliberating, we had a very old Worcester Bosch system boiler replaced in September. 4 bed detached bungalow, with large footprint after several extensions, 12 radiators + 2 towel rails.

Greenstar 8000 35kw and HIVE control. Installed by our local approved WB engineer, minimal plumbing work, total cost just short of £3200 including VAT. Comes with 12 year parts & labour warranty.

Your BG quote looks excessive and 'interest free' is costing you a lot.

They phoned me up yesterday as there is a 'Christmas Flash Offer' of £250 off  so the price is now £2,027.00. I am happy with that for £34 a month.
Thank you all for your comments, Happy Christmas x

Not sure if you've considered some of these online companies?

    https://www.boxt.co.uk/
    https://www.warmzilla.co.uk/
    https://iheat.co.uk/

Very easy to get a fixed price quote online and they offer finance packages. They're good if you're looking for a like for like replacement although you can add modifications if required

I used Warmzilla and was happy with the overall service. Message me if you need a referral
