Final bill from Avro totally wrong

Wasn't just me then, Avro had been ignoring all my readings and just doing estimates and my final bill was 2000 units over my actual meter reading! Octopus are still sorting it and their estimates are wildly different to my readings I'm providing! 😐"A bank* is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain."
(*Unless it's Santander. The branch says they sent you an umbrella 3 times already and don't understand why you don't have it yet and want it back right now!!!)0 -
I too have been caught up in the AVRO demise and subsequent 'final statement' charade .
They somehow reckon I owe them nearly 400 quid despite AVRO being sent meter readings every month and a new contract being agreed just before they collupsed.
Octopus have had a complaint lodged with them and email ping pong has been happening for weeks .
Yesterday Octopus sent me an 'eight week' mail, basically that offers me the option to either say complaint resolved, or, ask for a 'senior manager' to assess the complaint.. the latter option chosen !
You would think it should be easy enough to sort out.. meter readings every month.. DD set up and adjusted to suit a new contract.. etc. etc.
It appears AVRO / Octopus are not willing to admit they've made a mistake and back down.. it is SO obvious they have gone wrong .
The bill they sent me is for a SIX DAY period in late September '21.. the bill states I used nearly 7500 Kwh in six days.. I have solar panels so use virtually no grid electric at that time of year, and, as the ambient temperature that week was in the mid 20's centigrade the central heating wouldn't have been in use so virtually no gas.
I have now referred the matter to The Ombudsman Service.
Watch this space for updates !
