I have the same problem, I switched  as soon I heard PE was going under, although the advice was against this but wanted to get a good deal as they were disappearing fast but felt my credit balance £266 was safe as there wasn’t any warnings that your credit funds would be at risk if you switched, we kept being told if your supplier goes bust your money is safe.
I switched to Eon although I did get notifications from British Gas they had taken over my account, I have spent hours on the phone to them trying to find my funds but can’t get anywhere ! Eon assure me they don’t have my credit.
Where do I go next ??
When a SoLR transfer happens, the appointed SoLR will deal with active accounts as a priority, they need to get hose accounts over and up and running.  Closed accounts will be dealt with but they will be further down the list and take longer.  As @[Deleted User] says, you will get your money, it's just going to take time.  Do you know if BG have even credited accounts of those were did move PE > BG yet?  You'll almost certainly be after that.

I phoned BG and they told me that any credit balance should be transferred within 70 working days of the end of the PFP service. That's January 4th in my case. I also emailed PFP to ask them for a final statement but have not received a response, unsurprisingly.
PFP Energy website says they are currently finalising accounts and hope to have Final Bills issued early in the new year.

The British Gas "should be transferred within 70 working days" is at best an estimate based on how it usually plays out.  Although they will have some involvement in the PFP Final Billing process, they are by no means in control of it or the timescale.  The PFP final billing is taking a very long time, even by SoLR standards, but that's in part due to the way the company was set up and the administrators have had to try and unpick that and establish legal positions.

There is no possible way for E.ON to have your credit.

And that is correct; if your supplier goes bust, your credit is safe.

You wait for PFP to tell BG how much credit you are due, and then get it back from BG.

And now you know why the advice was against this. You need to pay E.ON today but won't get your credit back from BG for a while (could be days, could be months).

  • My PFP account was around £190 in credit when transferred to BG, due to house move we were only with BG for around six weeks. As it happened new house was supplied by Bulb and we just left it that way. Anyway initially BG said credit would reach us by bank transfer mid December. I messaged them on Twitter just before Christmas and this time they said it's basically how long is a piece of string as all in hands of administrators. Also refund would be by cheque not bank transfer. Not impressed by receiving conflicting information. Doesn't inspire confidence does it.
  • Hi,
When PfP went bust I was transferred to BG end of September, still waiting for credit balance, takes time, no panic.
  • I am in the same boat i am afraid, hundreds of pounds of credit due from PFP and a MASSIVE bill in from British Gas now!!

I've just logged into my BG account and it is showing that my account is now £600 in credit, but there is no detail so I can't confirm that the PFP credit balance has been transferred (although I can't think of another explanation for such a large credit balance). I paid a bill of £400 to BG just before Xmas.
  • I was told by a British Gas advisor early November that the credit would be through within 70 days. I called them yesterday to follow up and was told that I was incorrectly advised and that the timescale for the refunds is 7 to 8 months. Aah, the memories of why I left British Gas in the first place come flooding back.

British Gas have no control over the timescale at the moment- PFP haven't even issued Final Bills yet. Probably a well meaning CS agent who isn't fully briefed on all the different SoLR processes.  70 days would be a reasonable estimate in most cases, but the PFP one is taking a lot longer.

My credit with PE was over £250 and has now dwindled down to £40 something, my DD was paid in October to PE so where has this credit gone, obviously can’t contact PE to ask and I’ve also, paid my bills (much higher) to BG  I was transferred over by the end of October to BG
