TELL.YOUR.INSURER.Let them deal with it.
That's what you have insurance for.6 -
Cannot understand why the OP has asked the question. Several people have said **Tell the Police and Insurance Company** The vehicle has been stolen - the tracker is simply a bonus item that the Police and Insurers can use to find it.

This question is likely moot by now. The Jaguar car was stolen and pinged on 12th December - in all likelihood that car is now out of the country or stripped but not recoverable.0

I wonder if they have actually informed anyone & were just hoping to get it back without having to go down either route?Grumpy_chap said:This question is likely moot by now. OP has been on Today at 12:46PM but not updated the questions asked.Life in the slow lane0 -
Why would the police be able to get the information for free? The tracker company are not a charity.neilmcl said:
But as mentioned there really is no need to pay anything considering the police would be able to get that information for free.Flight3287462 said:Looking at their installation costs and annual subscription neither of which you seem to have paid (I assume it was included in the price of the car for a set period or just the installation) I think it looks like an OK deal.
I assume your excess will probably be about £500 alone and then you would be haggling on the settlement value, I think the £600 is not too bad. (Assuming you get the car back and in one piece)0 -
The police could charge them with knowingly withholding information that could help a criminal investigation? 🤷♀️Flight3287462 said:

According to their website "Tracker works in partnership with UK Police Forces to retrieve your car quickly and painlessly."Flight3287462 said:

(Assuming you get the car back and in one piece)Probably if you pay them.A few of the tracker companies operate their own retrieval services ... A couple of heavies with police alerted there may a breach of peace!0 -
Couple of (slightly tongue-in-cheek) questions after the previous replies.
1. If you buy a used car with a tracker, what's to stop you just not paying the annual charges and calling the Fuzz when it gets stolen?
2. How do tracking companies get round people doing the above?0 -
Nothing does but you have to get the fuzz interested in doing anything about it... the longer its left the more chances of it being unrecoverable or sustaining more "damage" - be that from vandalism, joyriding or being stripped for parts.Idiot_Savant said:Couple of (slightly tongue-in-cheek) questions after the previous replies.

When my car was stolen with no CCTV, no tracker etc I was told someone would be in contact "in a couple of days". A few days later the car was found by a friend a few blocks away with the passenger door lock prised out. Called the police again and their attitude was basically "great, we can close our file then"... when mentioning about possibility of finger prints etc they said it wasnt worth their time as surfaces too textured inside a car to get a meaningful print but can send one next week if I really want.
Without a subscription you wont get the notification that your car has started moving whilst you and your family are all in the shopping centre... those couple of hours give plenty of time for the car to be moved far away and increase the chances the police just give you a crime reference number for your insurers.0
