4 years ago I lived with my ex and he set up a sky account with payments coming from my account. he moved out a year later and I have never heard from him since. I now want to cancel sky however they will not let me as they need to speak to my ex and he has to cancel. I have cancelled my DD but sky have said i will still received bills which need to be paid. Any ideas what to do?

Get someone (a man) to call them pretending to be him.
Then get him to give them authorisation to talk to you. Then cancel.
Not the most ethical way to get about it, but Sky customer services are a bunch of muppet sales people and it's the most hassle free way of doing this. My mum did it and it worked fine.
There possibly would have been a password on the account, would you know what it was?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Thats a good idea. Possibly my only option. I remember the password so it should be ok.

why not just email the CEO of sky and explain the situation to him, this solves everyones problem?:p0

Butlers1982, your sarcasm is eventually going to p1ss everyone off. You are obviously referring to my issue with Sky....you really don't have a life and once AGAIN it's your choice to try the useless route of CS or to cut out a lot of time wasting with no responses I would say it's definitely the way to go!!!!
Do as you please next time you have a problem.

If the Sky account is not in your name then when they write to him for the payment return the letter as gone away. I'm sure they'll soon get the message!0

Not at all sweetheart, i was simply advising the poster of what the best thing to do was.
Not every issue on here is about you and before you starting telling me not to post anymore cause its "your" post. dont.
Have a good day0 -
i agree with chocmonster
the account is not in your name call them back an tell them that they cant speak to him he has left an if they continue to supply you with there service it will cost them more money in future as they will have to search for him make sure they log what you say an you make sure you get there name extension number an note the time of call
good luck0 -
If they won't let you cancel it, then it can't be in your name, so they can't pursue you for payment. Simple.
I would suggest writing to them (recorded delivery of course!) stating that you have tried to cancel the service, they won't allow you to, and as such you do not expect to be contacted at all for payment.
If you ask a male friend to contact them you will be breaching the Data Protection Act which is there for the benefit of us all and will not resolve the issue. If you approach it from a logical point of view, maybe they will realise that this flaw exists and do something to remedy it!0 -

Well it resolved it for my Mum in that she got her contract cancelled without any kerfuffel"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

I send them an email this morning asking why they can take money from my account yet they won't let me cancel the subscription. Will see what they say - not too much I imagine. The lady I spoke to on the phone wasnt too helpful.0
