I’ve had a Bosch built in fridge/freezer for sometime now, it’s is one of those with just one temperature control, but I’m getting confused about the settings and I’m looking guidance.
The temperature range is from 2-8c, I have my setting at 2c
My major problem seem to be a gather up of water just below the salad basket. A few weeks back I placed a tea towel on the bottom of the fridge and when I went to clean out the fridge this morning the tea towel had gathered up a considerable amount of water and was frozen solid to the base of the fridge! Any idea what is wrong.
Two possible problems might be I’ve the wrong temperature set or the drainage hole between fridge and freezer is blocked. The fridge is on top. It’s a small freezer two large drawers and one tray like compartment
Any ideas

Is the unit itself level on the floor? If it's tilter forward, it might be that the water isn't draining away properly, and is pooling instead.

As LadOnTheHill said, it may be the front legs need adjusting. Even a slight forward incline would stop it draining properly
Also, 3 degrees should be fine for the fridge - that's what my fridge is on, and I've yet to have anything freeze.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

What does the manual say about the temp. setting and do you still have the little plastic tool that came with it to use to clear the drainage hole? Any chance you have a fridge thermometer to check what the actual temperature is inside both compartments?0

Sounds like the drain hole could be blocked to me.
Get a long thin piece of flexible wire & push it down the drain hole & wiggle it about a few times.
Then get a jug & pour a small amount of water down the hole.
If it disappears quickly then job done.
If not do it again until it runs away.

KevinMostly.> My major problem seem to be a gather up of water just below the salad basket.Modern fridge then. If anything touches the back wall it will freeze and then cause such a water build up. There will be small ridges on the shelf to stop it. They however do not stop stuff on top of the other stuff. Just don't touch the back. The sides are fine. And do plunge the hole (tool came with the fridge) now unless you want a icky black mold build up after what you have already done.So to repeat. Anything touching the back of the frideg will A. Freeze. B. block the hole. C. Cause mold. So do not do it.

I have exactly the same problem with my fridge freezer. Thank you all for the advice, I am not well enough to move the freezer but will ask my son to help next time he visits.1

I've had that problem from time to time. I don't recall a particular tool being supplied but I find a chopstick works well or I have a spike thing in my sewing basket that's meant for making button holes. 🤣1

Well I don’t sew! but I get your drift 😁
Not a bad idea to get a fridge thermometer. It’s a large built in fridge freezer and has been there for some time so I hope it’s sitting level, what a handling it would be if I had to reset the level !
Yes there does seem to be some sort of ice forming on the back wall. I’ll have to keep an eye on that. I’m hoping, however, that it’s just a blocked drainage hole. I’ve a clean tea towel on the fridge I’ll just have to see if it gets wet0 -
My fridge freezer is a hisense and the instruction book says the ideal setting is 4-5 degrees C. We have it on 5 otherwise the veg/salad freezes in the salad drawer at the bottom of the fridge. We don’t have the problem with water gathering though.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

if the tea towel was frozen it does seem to indicate that the temperature was set too low for a fridge?I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
