What have you done to the risers on the stairs to cause them to look like that when they don't get any wear?
Risers? With that much marking, I thought they were the treads and the camera was being held at a funny angle!!

When I first read your post I thought this was going to be some nit picking thing. Having seen the photos then that is awful. It would drive me bonkers too!

I would start by printing the photos and going into store with them and making a fuss. Nothing worse than moaning customers with evidence!

Have they been out to inspect it yet?

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Blimey that looks absolutely appalling.
Never ever seen anything like that ever.
I would be contacting the shop you bought it from & the manufacturer & documenting you compliant in writing asap

I'm wondering how the OP got on with this?

We just had our new carpet laid today - from Carpetright but Westex brand - and it shows very similar "every footmark".  It's been a long wait, originally due to be laid in October (a delay for which Carpetright already offered a 20% reduction in price).  I've taken photos of the "as laid" condition but I hope initially that once we have furniture in the room, and walk on it a bit, the carpet will "settle" if that's the correct phrase.

I am sure there is another thread on here with exactly the same problem.
    Can't find it though.

As a little update, I visited the Carpetright store, they agreed the level of indentations is higher than expected long-term, but also that the effect was likely to reduce with a couple of weeks or so. Waiting game now.
