What a lovely thread! We have our own houseguest who rules us. We found her on the roadside as a tiny kit and took her home. That was 12 years ago. We are now thoroughly trained. Her name is Pashmina Ballerina Peabody the First and we love her to pieces although she doesn't like to be cuddled, hugged or touched unless we approach her from the front and ask her first.

That's a totally splendid name... love the way she has one blue and one green eye!

Our Ollie's full name is Ollie Fotherington Boppet. He's a bit of a big girl's blouse.

My rescue cat, Monty, most definitely in charge.
Our Elsa is also a rescue.  I wonder if it makes it easier for them to take charge because we are so desperate to make them happy?

Our eldest is a rescue cat and is in charge.
Out second was rejected by her mum and the runt so again likes to try and be in charge.
Our boy is perfectly content and believes everyone loves him and can't comprehend differently.
Out youngest is the Holly-cane and leaves a path of cheery destruction behind her.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.

A bit of back story behind my 2.

On the left we have Kibble (aka Queen Kibbs or Stush Cat) and her son Caboose (aka Boosey or STOP CHEWING THAT !!!!!! WIRE!)

Got them from a rescue centre in late October. The were found in a feral colony and sent to a local rescue centre. Although Kibble had had limited human contact beforehand she seemed to be more approachable than most so they put a shout out for prospective man servants.

They currently rule the living room but are slowly expanding their empire to the top of the stairs and then beyond...

Two of them?  Now you're just showing off!

Just loving this thread and that so many of you have rescue cats. Our boy is a rescue cat too as were both our previous boys. I can't abide the thought of a homeless cat. Breaks my heart....

Love the earthworm story! Our previous boy was like that. He once brought home a leaf and was so proud of it that he kept it in one of his baskets for weeks. Current boy is good at mice (though unfortunately not at dispatching them before they get away and set up camp in various parts of the house) but thankfully not good at birds.

A house (whether new or old) is not a home without at least one cat in my opinion.
