So I will need a certificated test from a pharmacy no other way ?  So I can't jus buy lateral flow test and use that?
You can, but it will need to be with a certificate, not a home test where you upload the result yourself.

Only certified tests are valid for use for entry to UK.
You get a certificate with Chronomics DIY LF Tests as part of the package.

These are uploaded yourself (photo of the result).
Which gives you certified result, exactly as I stated :)

Forgive me, I thought you were intimating you had to obtain a test from a retail outlet or tester with a physical presence rather than an online purveyor.

has anyone advice for a traveller currently in usa (ny state) on where to get an acceptable test done? any help would be appteciated
Most Lateral Flow tests will be acceptable for entry to the UK, which I'm under the impression are available at most pharmacies.
thanks for that. the problem is the gvt website says the test result has to be registered by the provider so i guess i can't kust buy a test from a pharmacy and take it home.
I've previously walked into pharmacies (although I have to stress this is in Eastern Europe not the US) without appointment, paid for a test and walked out with a paper certificate of negative test about 15 minutes later. The same procedure is in the UK (although online instead of on paper and with an appointment), so I'd assume it's the same in the US.

The most important is a certificate stated 'not detected' or 'negative' and most pharmacies/clinics should be able to do this for a fee.
Seen this in Cyprus in August ,large queue outside chemist shop ,i went in for some  thing else ( cream for sunburn ) before someone says something else :) ,they were charging 6 Euro,s for the test and certificate.

It may be easier for those currently outside the UK, but not at all.

Most important is the certificate, the highlight was simply that NHS home tests cannot be used but private tests with verification can.

I think we are clashing on terminology used, not advice :)

Malls, airports, pharmacies, specific labs in vacant retail units etc.

    €6 is fantastic value!
