You gotta take the good with the bad Mark. Still consider myself a fortunate person 🥰.
Payment of £20 to CC this morning, balance £598 now.
All documents forwarded to mortgage advisor for review yesterday and I had first discussion with architect about ideas for extension. Hoping to confirm appt for site visit next week. Work was busy but found myself distracted and my mind wondering to other places! The maintenance payment for the kids will be due in the next few days but I suspect this won't be arriving- not sure what will happen if that is the case. Kids at various clubs and dinner was egg fried rice followed by hot chocolate and a Disney film. The kids asked to see their dad this weekend and he told them no. So I require a food shop tonight to keep them fed over the weekend which I ll do after work today. Dinner menu is needing an update as recycled menu becoming boring. For myself I must drink more water today to try and avoid sore head come 4pm. Happy Thursday folk x

Exciting news on the remortgage and extension plans. I get why you don't want to actually move. That's a nice level of mortgage compared to mine too. Good luck with Ex and his GF. Well done for standing up to him. Hope the maintenance money arrives. Presumably you can send the CS@ or whatever they are now after him if it doesn't? Still stressful I imagine - and I assume you are no longer getting a break. Can any of your friends help out or are your kids old enough to baby sit so you can have an hour or two to yourself?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Yes mark and lucielle, very exciting times re the extension and remortgage! @savingholmes I have a lovely network of support that have helped over the years and the children are far more independent than they were. The oldest child at 16 still needs full time support but that is all being taken care of. With regards to CSA I would never have had the guts to go to them in the past. But counselling has grown my confidence and I will defo go down that route if non payment happens.
Architect booked in for end of February for site visit. I have an idea of what I want to do but 2 extra bedrooms is the dream. Mortgage company surveying house on Monday and remortgage solicitor made contact yesterday via email. So everything ticking along smoothly. I submitted house value as £170000 for purposes of remortgage- so fingers crossed, this was £10,000 estate agent valuation.
Recent news reports about the cost of living spiking are truly terrifying so my decision to stay looks to have been a sensible one and good time for remortgage as interest rates have also increased. I took a gamble last month and fixed my energy costs for 12 months last month which I am now glad I did too.
Payment of £3.66 to CC this morn, balance £595. Home delivery arriving today and food shop cost £140- extra meals for this week as kids wont be with their dad. DD2 has made decision she has seen his true colour and is done, I dont really blame her. The smaller ones still want to see their dad but dont understand he does not want to, this is heart breaking. At least it is Friday..... but I am working the weekend boooooo, Happy Friday all xxdebt free £17653.02/ £17653.02, 100% repaid on 31 May 2022, debt free date 25 Dec 20226 -
Hope your work files by over the weekend, I'll be working Saturday if that makes you feel any better?

@savingholmes, I do love this house, it has been fully refurbed already and so like a new build and I know every inch of her. @lucielle and @Honeysucklelou2 I am grateful for your encouraging comments and knowing others are working softens the blow slightly 😂
£4.64 sent to CC this morning. Had takeaway dinner last night costing £30 and worth every penny as my tired self was enjoying my bro and sis in laws company.
Costs for extension starting to come in. Architect £1000, building warrant £200, if planning permission needed £800, sounds expensive. Remortgage timescale is 30 days and I will have £700 early settlement fee for ending current mortgage early. I will try and cover as much as I can upfront but this will take mega careful budgeting. Good job I love a spreadsheet xdebt free £17653.02/ £17653.02, 100% repaid on 31 May 2022, debt free date 25 Dec 20227 -
