Confusion around TV signal options!

Guys, we've just moved into a new property which has at least four plus TVs, so clearly they watched TV...
I cannot see an aerial on the roof of in the loft. Basically there's three 'areas'
Kitchen, something sticking out of the wall, that looks like coax to me:

Following this outside, it seem to go into the loft, into this device:

Not really sure what that is!
Then in the front of the house I can see a satellite dish, and the cables coming into the front room are various:

I think the first is oldskool coax, and the last, I think the middle, the new one eith two cables is Sky?
Will *any* of this allow us to watch conventional TV anywhere in the house?! I tried to connect the coax in the above but the TV scan didn't find anything.
If not, if you don't want Sky or any other services like that, just normal TV and Netflix, are there any options besides putting an aerial up, and working out how on earth to feed it down to the lounge?! (Note, I'm happy to upgrade the TV if this will negate the problem!)
I don't fancy too much malarkey right now, we have boxes everywhere!
Thanks in advance!

Where does the UHF cable go to? I'd assume thats an aerial input. Are there any other unused inputs/outputs apart from the dab/fm one? Any diagrams on the back of the splitter amplifier? Has your current tv got a satellite tuner?Try connecting to the white cable in the first image. The two loft outputs are white, the two living room cables are black. Bizarre there are no coax plugs on the wires, I'd move the thin outer wires away from the thicker central wire in the third image.Netflix and a lot of live tv works via the internet, no aerial needed.1

It looks to be going to the back of the house too, well, I can see it going in that direction in the loft. Can't see where it goes from there though, unlike the white one. What is that device then?

So a newer TV with all these apps built in wood mean live BBC without an aerial if I understand correctly? Assuming you have an Internet connection (hopefully this is reconnected on Monday). Interesting, that may be the best option to be honest. Is it *really* live though, or eith a few mins delay?
I don't think my current TV, a Sony from about 10-11 years ago, has a satellite connection from what I can see.
So it does look like that white cable in the kitchen is badly connected Coax. Can this box thing take the place of an aerial though?! If its a signal amplifier I'd have thought it needed an aerial plugged into it, to amplify.

There is another double black cable in the wardrobe in the master bedroom (at the back), which would sort of make sense eith where the UHF thing is in the loft probably0

Maybe freesat is best option if you're not into sky .
It would mean buying a set top box though . From one of your images, it looks like maybe the double sockets on the 4th photo would connect to a set top box while the other end of those should be already connected to the sky dish .
As Norman mentioned above , Netflix and on demand stuff works from internet .
My humax set top box is connected to Internet and set top box , which has Netflix / bbc iPlayer etc .Just edititing my post as it seems you haven't a sky dish. Not sure , but those 2 cables may still work with a set top box.Maybe Google the name of that box and you may find a solution. On the other hand, someone may follow here after me with a possible solution ..1 -
There is dish at the front yes, which I assume is connected to this black dual cable.
It looks like 5-700 would get me an OLED TV, say LG for example. Would this plus Internet basically solve for BBC and Netflix?0 -
In his opening post, ChilliBob said 'Then in the front of the house I can see a satellite dish...'
The white box is an old and now obsolete Labgear aerial amplifier. In the past that would have fed the signal from an aerial to two TV points.
I think that later on the previous residents would have got Sky. The aerial, now no longer needed, could have been taken down. The figure-of-eight 'shotgun' cable is almost certainly from the Sky dish in the front of the house.
If the previous residents had standard Sky TV then a basic Freesat box such as this £49 one from Argos will give excellent reception of all channels.

However if the previous residents had SkyQ the identical-looking but different LNB fitted to the dish is incompatible with many Freesat receivers.

Many thanks, I figured without an aerial it was probably not doing anything! Okay so Freesat is basically a 50 quid risk, but might work. But, whilst 10+ times more expensive a new 'smart TV' would essentially fix the problem, guaranteed, and give us a new TV to boot...Which we were looking at doing anyway.
I think the LG OLED options eith £200 off on John Lewis might be the way to go.
The thing in the loft is taking power too, so I guess I may as well disconnect it too.
Thanks guys.0 -
Hi,pick up a cheap Sky box, those black cables connect to it, not your tv, and you should be able to then connect box to your old tv with a scart cable, if it has scart.1

Cheers, If I can't convince the Mrs the new TV is the way to go ill look into that:)0
