  • I set up a direct debit shortly after being taken over by Eon Next but the discount for doing so is not given automatically. You have to ask them to put you on the Eon Next Direct Debit Tariff. They do not advertise this on their website or advise you to do it and their is no mention of this tariff anywhere on their website. It was only by good fortune that I managed to get this tariff by ringing up and asking how much discount applies as this is not given on their website either.

"set up your direct debit on or before Friday 3 December and you'll get the cheaper rate. E.on Next says you'll get backdated prices, based on the lower cap rate, from the day it was appointed to take over as your supplier. For all three, that was 3 October 2021."

Wrong. No they don't backdate or automatically place a customer on the cheaper tariff.
It has to be done by the customer either by phone (good luck with that) or through the account which is possible but very difficult.
    The previous poster is correct.

Have they actually issued any proper Bills to former customers yet?  I've yet to receive one (ex Symbio), although they have calculated an amount owing based on a November meter read, at the wrong rates and show those rates on on my tariff...

Others have successfully challenged them and been assured the correct DD rate will be applied via e-mails to them (in Symbio thread and others)...  which, today, I've attempted to do.  Watch this space. ;)

I asked for a proper bill via email so I could check whether I was on the DD rate. I got a confused reply about your tariff shows on the second page of bills. Apparently they send a bill out upon receipt of your monthly meter read, never had one only how much in monetary terms I owe.
Anyways sent a reply saying what tariff am I on as I pay by DD. It's all gone quiet now never had a reply back, that was three days ago.

The tariff is at the bottom of your "Account summary" page
No, not received a bill yet either.

I asked (by email) for a bill.  I asked this morning (11/12/21) and was sent one later in the morning.  This confirmed I was on the DD tariff (despite what it said online).

You were lucky then, not had a reply back yet after sending another email.
I'll soon be paying another bill, hoping it's been corrected to reflect DD payments.
Incidentally are all customers asked to submit readings on the same date then billed just after or do these dates vary.
My monthly reading request when with Igloo were reading requested on the 8th of the month, immediately sent a bill (well within two hours) bill paid on 13th of the month.

Are we supposed to email them asking to be put on the DD tariff?

I have given the DD details but how are we to confirm we are on the cheapest tariff.

can someone with dad tariff post the kWh rates and standing charges

This will vary according to what region in the country you live in.

  • The main problem seems to be that the Tariff shown online merely says "Next Flex" even if it is or should be "Next Flex Direct Debit". The unit rates do not show whether or not a DD discount has been applied so without knowing the standard rates (i.e. those without a DD discount) it is not possible to tell whether or not such a discount has been applied. Of course rates vary from region to region which doesn't help so what I pay wouldn't help anyone else guage whether they are on the DD tariff. I did find a page on their website yesterday detailing tariffs for "prepayment", "payment on account" and "Payment by DD" but unfortunately today, this page has disappeared !!

By the way I haven't received a bill yet but based on my meter readings submitted I have managed to establish that the debit applied to my account has been calculated correctly at the DD rates.
