Obviously the correct thing for Fatso to do in the circumstances was to turn and look the other way while someone else (me) dealt with the situation I caught the bird in a bath towel and took it out the front to let it go. I half expected it to just land dead on the drive but it flew away. I came back in to floof for brains pretending to look everywhere for the bird (the one who caught it was shut outside the back door screaming to come in and get her bird back).4 -

Que the mouse scurrying away, me screeching at DH to grab it - him missing it and the bloody cat just watching. We couldn’t find it so was making plans to get traps the next day but by the time we came down in the morning the cat had earnt her stripes !4

Glad the mouse was caught and relocated. I once rescued a mouse from my cat and it was shaking with fright so I stroked it to reassure it. It let out an almighty squeal and sunk its teeth into my hand. It took me ages to get it off me 😱I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

How ungrateful of the mouse @Sun_Addict. We took a stick with us to poke the door of the trap open. I could just imagine the mouse running towards the HT if one of us tried to open it with our hands.1

Beautiful (if useless
) cat.
Glad the mouse has been found. When I was younger we had a real hunter of a cat. A rat got into our house and it's access point was under a step. He sat on top of the step all day not moving an inch until the rat came out and he got it."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney2 -
Now don’t start thinking about the mouse, all alone, in a strange location. Missing its family and friends, wondering where it’s home is, hoping its babies are ok. This was me btw when I released one of ours (still in the garden, but didn’t know which side it had come from) 😬Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Good morning
Today should be spending free as I'm going to BF's this afternoon with a lemon drizzle cake and some oat biscuits that I made yesterday as his Easter goodies. It's raining (again) so I don't think we'll be going anywhere.
I emptied the chest of drawers that the mouse was hiding behind this morning. No nests and nothing chewed. It seems to have been a very unusual mouse. I have identified 2 drawers that need decluttering as does the space between the chest of drawers and the wall. I've given up counting items leaving for now - I'll start again once the actual rubbish has gone. I keep having to stop - the recycling bin was full to the brim this morning and the general rubbish one has been the same for the last couple of collections. I've also done two tip runs, one with things from the shed and one with two bags of tat from that cupboard that I thought the mouse came from and some more cardboard boxes.
I think the problem is that when we moved from a very big house to here we filled the space straight away. We've then crammed other stuff in on top and the bits at the bottom get forgotten. I'm determined that we are going to end up with less things in this house though. I've identified a few things to sell on ebay so far and I think that I will end up with a lot more by the time I finish.
Take care all of you 😊5 -
Great progress with the decluttering, and glad the mouse didn't do any damage. I'm sure he'll enjoy his trip to Sains and McDs. That did make me laugh though WW

Every now and then one of us says "Aww, the little mouse was so tiny and cute". The first words out of my mouth when the HT said "Oh look how tiny it is" were "We're not keeping it". Our whole family has a tendency to bring homeless animals back from places.
