ROFL at "we're not keeping it" - you know the HT so well!
When we had our big declutter in the flat just before covid I was genuinely astonished how much stuff we got shot of - and indeed how much we had in the first place! Every now and again now we're in the house MrEH says "Think how much of the stuff we got rid of we could have kept if we'd known we were moving here" - errr, no, that is absolutely NOT the way it works! I'm still every bit as glad as I was immediately we'd done it to be rid of all the assorted things that had long since stopped having any value to us! One of our issues mind you was the the flat did just have SO much storage - the removal men were amazed how much stuff we had when it was loaded into the truck!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@CRANKY40 - Our experience has been that one can sometimes just get a very weird mouse! One year at 'mouse time', we knew we had got a mouse in our pantry because we found droppings, but despite all the easy-chew food boxes & packets in there, the ONLY thing which had been eaten was 1/4 jar of chilli jelly!! Mousey had chewed through the cellophane topper & waxed paper disc & tucked in! The usual targets - cereal, oatcakes, pasta, etc, were completely untouched!

I'm pleased to report a total lack of mouse activity since relocating our last visitor. Yesterday was housework but I did take the HT our for a drive as well. I wanted some grapes from M&S because the Asda ones were horrible so the HT came with me and we called in on BF for a coffee afterwards.
Today I have ordered most of my sister's birthday present. I just need to buy some chocolate to go in with it and a card. I have cut the grass out the back, and my next door neighbour did the front for me. I cut the remains of the old washing line down and put the new one up and then I did some ivy removal. The rhubarb is halfway up the back fence again. The weather guess said that it was going to rain today when I looked on Friday so being able to get garden jobs done was an unexpected bonus.
For the last hour before dinner time I sorted my makeup out and threw away anything that was old, nasty or both. Another little declutter win.
Take care all of you 😊5 -

Que the mouse scurrying away, me screeching at DH to grab it - him missing it and the bloody cat just watching. We couldn’t find it so was making plans to get traps the next day but by the time we came down in the morning the cat had earnt her stripes !2

That's a relief @Humdinger1, I'd hate you to be disappointed 🤣
Today didn't quite go to plan. It was supposed to be a staying home day. The shopping delivery was early and I was still in my pjs. There wasn't any cat food so my previous plan which was to go and buy bananas and apples myself later in the week had to be revised. The HT wanted a drink from the coffee shop near the supermarket (he paid for it himself) so off we went. I bought birthday cards for my sister and my two great nephews while I was there. The HT doesn't like shopping so he waited in the car for me. The shopping delivery comes from a different branch by the way so the cat won't starve any time soon, supplies were obtained as were the apples and bananas.

Like Cranky's aunty and uncle's cat and similar to @Humdinger1 - the blackcat here has got gappy teeth as well as a lack of understanding of what to do when a mouse miraculously finds itself in his mouth. The scene usually plays out along the lines of -cat hangs around outside for a while
cat bursts into house through cat flap
i see mouse hanging out of his mouth and squeal
cat Is shocked by the squeal and drops mouse
mouse runs away
cat sits down and has a wash before going to sleep
humans assume role of cat and try to catch the mouse5 -
At least your cat knows what to do @Blackcats. Ours is clueless. Our temporary mouse could have moved it's entire family in and given them dinner from the cat bowl.
The HT and I took my tax rebate shopping today. We bought more than intended (most of it for him) but it's all good and he has some new t-shirts for the summer. We only went to three shops and for a coffee as that's about our limit. I'm sore now and he will be more sore than usual tomorrow but at least we feel like we've been somewhere and done something with his two weeks off from uni.
Take care all of you 😊5 -
Glad you and the HT managed to make good use of the weekend and the HT's time off Cranky. I think 3 shops in one go is about my limit these days as well - and to think years ago back when all was spendy we used to go "shopping for fun"! Good evening,
We've booked a holiday. This has involved some spending as we're going abroad and since the HT appeared I've only taken him on UK holidays that I could drive to. I already had a suitcase but now the HT has one too. I have enough clothes and the HT acquired some more shorts and a couple of shirts.
I bought the cat a floofy pet bed while we were out suitcase shopping and we put a heated throw into half of it (only half so if she gets too hot she can move over). She's climbed out of it once so far and that was only to check her dinner bowl because I'd been in the kitchen. I was actually cleaning not cooking. The grass in the swamp garden needs cutting again but it's still too wet and surprise....it's meant to rain again tomorrow. It never gets the chance to dry out enough (clay soil) so I did the house cleaning instead of gardening. Maybe next week will be the week that's it's dry enough.
In other money spending news someone is coming to box some pipes in for me. A friend's husband is going self employed so he's doing small jobs for now until he gets busier which is perfect. They're the kind of fiddly small jobs that you wouldn't bother someone with which is why the upstairs one has been left for a while. The downstairs one is pipes from the new boiler which are different from the old one so the cover doesn't fit properly any more so two jobs seemed more worth asking someone to do.
I've just moved a couple of weeks grocery underspends over to the Ebeneezer account. That'll come in handy at Christmas possibly. I may not want to part with it by then though.
Take care all of you 😊8 -
