So, I think I have an income problem/splitting the bills. And I'm not gonna be getting any help with the bills, so I need to find a second job.

Time and availability it the problem. Between school dropp off and pick up, after-school clubs, my own job, and partner working night so I need to be home. Doesn't leave much room.

As far as I've come, which is amazing, I need to solidify this great position I've sacrificed too long for. And I never want to go back to where I was.

I need to box off this car fund, then just make regular payments to it like the birthday/Xmas fund. For mots , repairs etc. then I'd like to fully fund the second half of my emergency fund(months 3-6). Unless it's overkill. I'm not sure. I think if I could wave a magic wand and it was there that would be perfect. But 3 months is probably enough as my job is stable.

Then, whatever I decide, need to start saving for a deposit for a house. Long term that's gotta be the smart move.

Spoke to partner other day again about sorting a budget. Just said not tonight. Guess it made me glad I went on this journey alone.

Hi, is it time to have a discussion with your partner about what happens with her earnings. It seems to me that the majority of expenses, planning and saving is all on your shoulders and that your partner (after 5 years of your diary) is still not onboard with what you are doing. There is NO WAY that you should be taking on any more work.

It seems really unfair to me. Good luck V x

Have tried. Always secretive, vague answers. I'm guessing it's in the 5 to 6 hundred pounds bracket going on debts a month. The whole reason I was paying the housing and utility's was so she could focus on paying them down. That was the agreement. Must be 10 years ago now.

And I'm not here to bad mouth them. I've got nothing but good things to say about them and love them dearly. And they cover the council tax, half the food, get the kids clothes and pay for the 2 clubs they are in.

I just know this is something that is massively holding us back and it shouldn't be. If she took it seriously for a few months I'm sure the outlook would be much better and I'd sleep better at night.

So my employer is changing the way they pay our holidays. Among other things. But this is what will probably effect me the most.

Currently they pay a 12 th of our allocation every month, but dont receive any pay when we are actually off. We are moving like everywhere else and getting paid when we are off.

Gonna be better when I actually take time off, but currently I usually just take 1 day to make a long weekend every so often rather than a full week. Plus that extra every month has been a blessing while tackling the debt. Needless to say I would never normally take the whole 5.6 weeks. But this will have to change.

So my take home pay will likely be down £200 a month now

So more of the changes in work have just come out. Might be more like £250 down. Some more things are being changed too, and apparently a number of people have been underpaid holidays for a number of years. Only being back paid by 2 years. A discretionary bonus we got is being slashed in half too.

Its all a bit of a worry as they are hoping to implement them by the end of the month. But still nothing is getting in stone. Even the pay rise that we were told about months ago , no one knows the actual number.

Plus if I'm down by what I think I will be, I'm not going to be able to save the way I have been! Bit also makes me thankful I did while the going was good and I stayed committed, and got myself (mostly)out of this hole.

So pay day again. Made it.

Used £50 out of the float for the last couple of days. That's been put back.

Picked up some extra shifts last month so had best pay day ever.

Have moved £500 instead of £300 over to savings as it's not going to happen again now.

Had some other changes to the contract and stuff too over last few days. Also holiday underpaid stuff isn't happening this month as they were too busy.

Good news is paid last payment on holiday, that will save £65 a month. Also bed, that was meant to be next month, but did a double payment of £46 to be rid. Also pay rise has finally started. And was 5.5% approx. Pretty happy with it. Just a shame had wait 3 months for it to come into effect.

So average pay , I'm predicting, will only be down 150-200 now. Will have to wait and see.

    Gonna update soa on break.

Thanks. Yes it is. Apparently it's the same as a 6 person household.

Washing machines on 3 times a day, we dont have a shower, and kids have had pools up and down a lot with the heat.

Hoping that's all it is. No known leaks anywhere!

I could also probably save on the internet. Only thing is if we move houses, I dont want to sign a new 24 month contract as we are up.
