Mandatory day 2 pcr - since when?

Boris said that everybody entering the uk will need to take a pcr on day 2. As usual it is crystal clear… 
when does it get in place? If I arrive to the uk today, do I need to do it?

News reports are vague but suggest further details will be announced in the next few days, so until there is anything definite carry on as before.

I suspect the problem for many people will be the need to isolate until they get the negative result. I’m away in January and I have an event booked for 6 days after I return, so I’m hoping that’s enough time to do a PCR get it sent off and get my result back!

I assume the enforcement of it will be near non existent as before and will just be spamming of emails and phone calls.

Nobody knows yet, it's only just been announced that they intend to do it!

But not for everybody else.

If I'm reading this correctly, if I come back from a week's holiday I will need to stay off work until I get a negative test result even though I am fully vaccinated and have had a booster jab.  Wow.

Yup. Some places you can book in and get a result by midnight though. Its a shambles, hopefully only lasts 3 weeks.

Doesn't stop you spreading the new variant of Covid to others. Wow.
