Jewellers buy as scrap, better off looking at gold companies eg h-tten there's a thread about them somewhere.
Selling anything is better than leaving it unused.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.6 -
Morning MF
There's a specialist jeweller in a nearby town who was particularly interested in one of my rings and said he'd be interested if I ever wanted to sell it.
While DS is home this weekend I may get him to help me move some furniture around. I have like a merchant chest that someone else listed for around £50 - so I can try and sell that. I love tiffany lamps but I have one in a colour I don't particularly like so will list that, some crystal and a hand painted vase. Looking at my budget - I am going to raise my selling target to £300 and aim for more if possible as it is really tight. I may review some of my FB purchases and see if I want to try and resell any that I bought to upcycle.
I have enough food in though for at least another week. I have half a tank of fuel. It's just all the legal costs. My mattress is due to have the balance paid soon too - which I plan to put on a CC for the protection - but I don't want to stop being debt neutral! I also want to buy an electronic screwdriver - but again am a bit close to the wire. May have spent a little too much at FB, 3tsy and Am**** this month. Trying to keep EF intact and stay debt neutral.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

So I have paid £316 off target CC. I plan to pay at least another £145 off this month - potentially boosted to £180 by recent sales - but leaving in my account for now.
My CC1 balance is now £1K 0% to end of March
My CC2 balance is £788 0% to around end of April/early May
I still have £379 to pay on my mattress this pay month. Work had promised me a £100 voucher which I haven't yet received but I'd planned to use that towards it. I also probably need to pay to dispose of my existing mattress but they wanted £45!! So I was going to try and cut up a pocket sprung mattress and take it to the tip myself. Bad idea?
I am due to get a second £100 voucher before Xmas which I will probably use for food to offset the mattress spend and avoid further debt.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi Peb. Hope things are improving for you.
It's super king but I think I will take the risk or its another £45 I don't want to spend.
The guy came this afternoon for the two bike wheels so another £15 in kitty. So now at £35/300 desired.
DD is home. I have some vouchers for a pub meal. So will just get her to pay for her drink. (Mr T). She's still not well. I finished early today. Need to catch up next week.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just catching up. Happy new diary and congrats on the new phase of your life!
Well done on all the sales. I am the queen of packaging sales so feel free to shout if you need anything. I've sold a lot of fragile stuff. The key is to make the packaging bomb proof. Assume it will be dropped onto a concrete floor/stacked at the bottom of a pile of parcels and package accordingly."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Waves at Jwil!! Welcome!!
Well DD and I had a lovely meal out - thanks to vouchers. She bought my drink and had tap water herself. Result!
I've just done a bank account switch for an account I only set up in July - so very happy. £130 bonus in 90 days San -der plus £20 Am**** voucher after 60 days. That will be lovely when it comes. It should come before my 0% runs out so likely to use it towards that.
Now debating whether to switch an NW one as well or whether to space them out! Part of me thinks switch before they cotton on to financial circumstances change!! Plus I assume if I'm not getting an overdraft it shouldn't matter credit score wise?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Is it a table lamp or uplighter / standing lamp?
Well done for setting a sales budget, having something to aim towards keeps momentum going.
Watch doing too many switches close together and ignore your score, it's credit history companies see.

The Der bank account earlier should give me cashback on normal spends like utilities etc up to £5 a month so think will get those moved across once it's properly set up. Should be by a week on Monday. I will need to move some money across to fund it. For all you eager MFWs - I will look to pay it off the mortgage in some form once I've kicked the final CCs to the kerb.
I know the credit score reports don't like too many things at once - but at the same time - I don't 'need' new credit for a while so I don't think it will matter. That's why I waited until after the mortgage completion and didn't do BNPL on the mattress. Amusingly - today I updated my details on Exp....n and put divorced and for the first time - I was green on mse across the board. It looks like they like the fact I'm no longer financially associated with Ex. It also liked my higher mortgage payment it seemed - although it will be interesting to see what it shows next month.
Either way - I struck while the going was good - and have got a cashback CC which will also give me a £40 Am**** giftcard to spend b4 xmas enabling me to buy a few remaining pressies. I only plan to use the card long enough to activate the giftcard. I'm just trying to maximise my free money options currently. It gave me my highest limit ever and blew my mind!! But I promise - my intention is to clear the CCs and then keep 1 or 2 for emergency use only or to get S75 protection where I already have the cash. I will ring up tomorrow and cancel a different card (H**C) to offset it - so the score people don't freak out at my available credit! I need to check whether I have the physical card for M**A and if I do I could cancel that at the same time. That would then keep my overall credit availability around the same as previous and make life simpler.
So week 1 of divorce - money summary:- Mortgage in my name tick
- £co referral for DD - once she activates and spends required amount - I should get £30 and she should get £10. Anyone else interested in a link please PM me. I would just provide a link - I wouldn't need your details. I've had over £2K from £co since I joined around 2008.
- FB £35 cash sales
- New will £51 saved by going via MSE plus £1.98 in cashback C00p points
- New bank account with £130 cashback and £20 Am**** gift voucher
- New CC with £40 Am**** gift voucher
- Free £10.50 meal for 2 using C1ub vouchers
It's hammering down here. Hope the weather is being kinder where you are...
