Thanks Mark. Beanie, MF and Blacats.
I've had a blowout day on food budget and calories wise... But hey...
I am looking forward to the weekend but worried about tomorrow's socialising. I have however followed MF's advice and I bought a beautiful white double stem orchid as a gift.
Had quite a busy week with work. Lots to catch up on still tomorrow.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I wanted to switch a bank acct today but it said I was already a customer... Weird - because I'm not aware of it... Freaky. Doesn't show on my credit report... Then it shut itself for maintenance. Will perhaps try again tomorrow. Hopefully should get £175. Conscious that it would be nice to have some £ for spending at Xmas or soon after. My 365 MS acct is due in Jan and virus checker shortly after etc so even if I got the £ after xmas it would be great.
I also need to look in the garage and shed and see if I have any easy things to list and try and sell on FB that way I declutter and release guilt free £ to spend on the handyman/garden.
Any of you able to recommend pond liner? Am**** seems to sell some at reasonable prices (around £60) but wary of buying if not good enough quality. My one is ripped near the top so needs replacing.
I re-read some of my diary from earlier this year and I was talking then about my dream of restoring the pond and water feature. At the time it was choked with weeds. Once I have liner - then that can happen - as he's already cleared all the weed from that area. The handyman is due back next week - he did talk about selling me an offcut from a £600 roll of pond liner his mum had bought but had no idea what £ she wanted or how big a piece it would be. My mini rill and pond are already refilling as he's dammed part of the pond up - but I have a waterfall feature too and it would be lovely to get that working again. The water used to just recirculate - at one point I even had fish! Next time he comes he said he will bring me some spare rocks he has... Bargain as they can be extortionate.
I potentially also need to buy hooks so I can fit hanging lights. He reckons I could just use nails but unsure about that. I may also buy more fence paint as it sounds like the handyman would be willing to paint the fences and fit the hooks. I would need to pay an electrician for some outdoor sockets but I already have 3 boxes of lights. It is lovely seeing my garden transform into a usable space. He patched under some slate where the weed membrane was letting weeds through - and took out all the grass and weeds that had grown between my slabs. It's amazing what a difference something so simple makes to the look and feel of the garden.
I am pleased to report though that my aquilegia have not been harmed and I should still have a lovely display of those. I need to redistribute some to other parts of the garden.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sounds lovely. With the work needed to get the pound and waterfall useable again I would not skimp on the liner. Ask him what he wants for his mums she can’t really use it can she.Having a useable garden is so worth it and once it’s manageable you can keep on top of it yourself plus it’s good exercise.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Do work not offer 365 as a benefit? It's the route I'm going down when mine expires. I also don't pay for virus / malware.
Orchard sounds perfect!

Sorry to hear about your DD, such a fright and a worry. Hope she is okay.
In my experience, you can treat aquilegia very roughly and they don't mind at all.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746
- Original redemption date: August 2043
- Current redemption date: July 2041
- Debt: £15,930
- Savings: £12,430

We can get 365 through work as well. I don't pay for anti virus, there's loads of good free ones out there."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3
