Hi Savings
I've not read everything as there is a lot to catch up on but well done on the mattress.
I too am decluttering - i dropped a bag at the charity shop yesterday, gave some things to neighbour and have also listed some items to sell.
It's a balance and there is such a lot to sort out after i've really not done so for 3 years probably! But it will all help so much in the long term - our home, we will enjoy the space more, it'll be easier to clean, it'll be easier to do things because we can find things easily. We'll feel better in a tidy and clean home too. Boxofpaws struck a chord with me as i just sorted my sock drawer out before i started posting on here again - it's got a bit more in than it should really (not just socks) but it is tidier now and very easy to find what i need. The other thing will be if you do declutter which will transform your home, any sales could help you pay for any work you decide to have done.1st May 2025

Thanks GAP and Beanie - I am so happy I didn't pay for it to go with the bed people. I wouldn't have been able to top up my pension / mortgage neutral pot if I had.StripeyTightsSpottySocks said:I too am decluttering - i dropped a bag at the charity shop yesterday, gave some things to neighbour and have also listed some items to sell.

On the chair - it needs a second coat anyway - but then I think I will need to wax it as I think some of the paint is coming off on the edges where my legs rub against the fabric. I still have enough left over paint (even after spilling over half a can!!) Thankfully I can shop from home as I already have an unused tin of furniture wax that I bought for a project in lockdown 1 and didn't end up using. I knew I was supposed to wax it - I was just seeing what I could get away with.
I've applied for a rewards card that if I'm eligible for will give me 23 months 0% on spends and rewards and a £40 voucher to use in store. I have my eye on a hoodie I'd like and some trousers. MSE think I have a 99% chance of being accepted so hopefully it will work out. I still need to cancel a couple of cards.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just managed to get myself locked out of one of my new accounts... They are sending stuff through the post rather than letting me reset using answers which is just annoying. I wouldn't mind but I was hoping to send some £ to my target CC. Great excuse for not doing though! They have disabled both my CC and bank acct even through they had different login IDs... Irritated. I knew the details for the main bank account - just got confused on the CC....
DD got some YS bread rolls the other day and left them. So just had cheese and spring onion and salad cream bread rolls. Delish! I rarely buy bread so it felt like a real treat.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Shame about the other stuff not selling Savings. One of the problems I have with the whole de-cluttering idea is my perspective on if something has value. Invariably, I feel the stuff I am listing is of quality and no way fit for the bin, but others don't seem to want to buy it. I then feel a level of resentment about it going to the charity shop because I know it's 'worth' even though something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. And to make it worse, if I choose to hold out to see if I can get some money for it, I have to keep it in the house, taking up space that I am trying to free up in the first place. Soon, I will learn to let go and accept that the charity shops need it more than I do!What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Totally relate to that @Tahlullah.H I have to see it as the CS is doing me a service - putting my stuff out for reuse - and binning what I can't!! If they get a few quid in the process that's fab. It's a reward for all the dross they have to deal with.
I am currently fighting the urge to go and buy more paint - in case the govt tightens things again... But £ wise - I really shouldn't. I can also see myself falling into the trap of triple spending any vouchers / giftcards I'm due to get - so again trying to rein it in. I have also been procrastinating on here - when I could have been decluttering or any of the other 10 million items on my to do list...
If the stuff does sell and release funds to help with MFW and DFW goals that's a big help... Still contemplating returning some stuff to Am**** as bought more than I planned in Nov... It's free returns currently too - and I have some boxes I could use... Either that or I need to start using them and feeling the joy of creation instead of procrastination!!

In the interest of following your dream, sending stuff back would be a plan as you already have more than you need. And the free returns isn't going to be there forever! You can still create and save money. Win win. What I do not give, you must never take by force.
