Thanks @powerspowers
Given you all a few hours break
Nothing went quite to plan today. I started work late as has to nip in to work as had left my power cable. Then the adaptor that connects my screen and other stuff played up... Fun day - not.
While I was in work I got to chat to 3 people which was nice.
Today I had to get a refund from Am**** for something showing as delivered that I immediately returned. Sorted.
Also ordered repeat prescriptions.
Got measured for new carpets but I think I should clear current debt and reconsider at Easter. At least I should know what to budget for tomorrow but it all sounded like it would be more than I can justify paying.
DD cooked herself a meal over spiced it and then asked I've taken to the shop. I think I will convert it to a chilli and sort that way. She would have binned it but I offered to buy it off herAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Wow you have been so busy! You are achieving great things. I'm in awe!
Great about all the gifts you have found too!6 -
If you've got a written quote and sizes, it will be easier to shop around and potentially save money.

Thanks and welcome @Orangetoes
I had to read the meters again this morning. Righty tighty was apparently wrong in this case and it was righty loosey!! Should have done it Sunday but better late than never! My new energy supplier has requested them. I may even get a bill soon! (Previous supplier went bust). I potentially need to buy a new meter cupboard unless anyone has a brain wave of how to mend broken hinges on the plastic door back for the electricity meter? It's propped shut with a branch at the moment
I'm currently converting the taco mince into a chilli. It's still not quite right - but if I freeze some and have it with jacket spud occasionally interspersed with other stuff it will do. Better than wasting it. Just ordered a revised xmas present for my Dad at half the price and a new frying pan for me. The metal 'inductiony' bit is peeling away on the other one!! Very annoying!MovingForwards said:If you've got a written quote and sizes, it will be easier to shop around and potentially save money.

On the relaxation front - I did manage a quick chat with a neighbour after dropping off a panettone from L1d1. Very tasty - having already tested one... I hope to get another before xmas but they are so moreish as is there Grape Spritz. Better than the brand version. It looks like I'm leaving the worst of the front room for my cleaner...Let's hope she comes this week. Paying her with FB £ saved from the other week. I'm loving my new desk / room and the chair even if I'm not quite finished...
I updated my budgets earlier - and I am on track to remain more than debt neutral past my new payday - so that's a relief. I do need to be careful to start clearing it down rather than adding to it though.
I still need to organise my vehicle tracking.
My new mattress is due to arrive Thursday. Excited. I've had more than enough of springs sticking up and into me. I will be less excited however about having to cut up the old one and get it to the tip... As it's superking size it will be a challenge!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

For something like £45 yes but I opted not to pay that... Hope I don't regret it!

That sounds like a sensible plan with the carpets - to know what sort of money you’re looking at but then defer the job until things are more settled on that front. We’ve currently got a very bare, cold hallway floor thanks to having to strip up the old (very old, in fact!) carpet when we had the water in from upstairs a few months back, it’s not ideal but we’ve been struggling to get the other trades needed to get it done to quote so at the moment it is what it is.With the old mattress, you may find it folds easier than expected thanks to being old and well used - if so might you be able to employ copious quantities of duct tape to hold it in place and fit into a car?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

We're currently minus a stair and landing carpet. The quote for the new one was £628, but comparing like for like online I've since discovered that the 'free' fitting accounts for almost half the cost! Now thinking about buying the carpet ourselves and hiring a carpet fitter if we are too daunted by doing the stairs ourselves, but have deferred the whole thing until next year.Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 246
