Gardener's question time - will the aquilegia work well in heavy/clay soils - which has been my cross to bear since we moved in. I love the sound of self seeding, its sounds like MSEI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Hi @mark55man - I started off with 'real plants' plus some seed. They have spread happily around my garden including to random areas. I also uplift some from time to time to help them spread. I think they are fabulous. Mine seed heavily each year - and I also take those seeds and sprinkle them around. I think they will be fine in heavy soils. They don't need to be planted deep.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sedum I find great for Autumn colour too. They can be easily broken into clumps and spread around the garden. I think I have killed off half my pots this year by failing to water them!! Oops. I need to trim my sedum from last year and sea holly - I leave the stems for the birds over the winter and they seem to really like them. I may do a bit later. I weeded about a third of what was my veg patch on Sunday so progress however slow. I might try and spread my red geraniums around as I love those. I've already spread the pink geraniums and blue forget-me-nots but the red is more my colour!
I've had a very spendy month it feels like. Not really sure why - other than a holiday loosening of the reins - plus less pressure as DF. Need to not get carried away. I have bought some items for stores like coffee when I've seen it on offer etc which soon adds up - plus some moisturiser that was a few pound off etc. I've also bought myself an extension lead and some other bits and pieces.
I got my first reward from MnS today for my CC - £2. Better than nothing! I might have a look at what other deals are out there as my credit score is back at nearly top rate. See if I can get more cashback. I need to pay my home insurance within the next week or so £150ish. I also need to sort my cat insurance - they want £72 more a year which is a lot.
I got a garage to look at DD's car. My assessment of it is correct. It needs nearly £2K of work. They said sell it quick for around £500 and cut your losses while it still has MOT. It cost her more than than to tax and insure. She should get some of that back though. He said it wouldn't pass by the time its due without the work. I'm gutted for her. She's hoping Ex will help her sell it! I'll watch this space...
Going out with DD for a meal in a bit to a really cheap pub. She's paying for herself so shouldn't cost much.

I just got a really good deal selling my car to webuyanycar. It needed 1.5-2k of work and was only worth 3.5k max if in good working order. They gave me just over 2K. All they did was start the engine to check milage and look at bodywork, tyres, etc. They didn't put it on a ramp or open the bonnet. Sorry to hear about the car, hopefully she can cut her losses and get something else after passing her test.
It's normal to have spendy moments after being DF. You've gone without things and once it's all replenished less will be spent.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.6
