Almost cult-like isn't it? It's actually very clever marketing, I almost feel loyal to them.GiffGaff seem to have an almost fanatical following. I'm not sure quite why.2 -
That surprises me, as I've always been informed of PAYG price changes (even though they don't affect me day-to-day).GDB2222 said:To be fair, I think that all the GiffGaff fans must have monthly plans, which look like reasonable value.
What annoyed me about them was that they kept pushing the price of PAYG calls up, but they didn't tell me. So, I only discovered the price had shot up when I found that my credit wasn't lasting very long. Well, at 25 p a minute, it wouldn't last at all long, would it?Jenni x0 -

I like them because their plans are flexible and they even recommend when you should downgrade to a cheaper plan. I bet none of the other providers do that.flaneurs_lobster said:

Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.2 -
I left them 3 or 4 years ago, so maybe they've upped their game in that respect. When I queried the lack of transparency of the PAYG price with their customer disservice, they said that the price was on their website, which I thought was incredibly lame.Jenni_D said:

But, really, charging 25p a minute for PAYG, as they do now, is downright robbery. GiffGaff were "only" 5 times the O2 price when I left them, but apparently that wasn't enough profit for them.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Perhaps they don't want PAYG customers, especially for phone calls which are unlimited on most decent sim only deals. I doubt the numbers that want PAYG are well serviced on other cheap providers and aren't worth chasing.GDB2222 said:

I joined them in week one of their operation and have been with them ever since. I don't use the forums anymore, because it's full of idiots these days. When I did use it I didn't pay anything for about 5 years, everything was paid for with the payback. So, whatever happens these days I'm probably quids in.
Despite the time I've been with them, I'm not fanatical and always keep an eye open for new players that may tempt me, but, it's not about the cost for me, so I'm sticking for a while longer....
