Unsure about mobile phone

Aim to buy new phone for my elderly wife. She does not use internet. Currently a top up user. Wondering if she should continue with top up, or sim only or contract. She only uses it currently for infrequent basic calls ie to find me when we're lost in stores or if she happens to be on n hospital. We never go out alone.

Replacing because it's too tiny,fiddly and I've to teach her to text. We do top up which lasts ages . In essence it's been used as intercom for when she's in a shop and I'm outside. We can phone mobiles from our landline free. Any video from my mobile.0 -
