Curve is a good idea, but would you get S75 protection? Not that you tend to need it with Amazon but you never know...

As I understand it, no, but they have their own protection scheme.

Apparently, if you have a Mastercard or any sort of debit card set as your default payment method you can still add a Visa credit card and then set it as default. After a few days, the chances are Amazon will notice* and offer you £20 credit to add .... a Mastercard or any sort of debit card and set it as your default payment method. Which could include the one you deleted earlier....

okay, will check this out thanks. Still think it is ridiculous not accepting Visa. I understand their reasons but can't help but feel this is something that will only be temporary and Amazon are just playing a game with Visa.
  • I applied for the Amazon Mastercard and was rejected at the first check.

I have never been refused a credit card or credit of any sort in my life and have an excellent credit score, so it came as a bit of a shock, the only thing I can put it down to is that I'm retired.

I am a hown owner with no mortgage, no dependants, and two good pensions.

I immediately applied for an American Express card and was welcomed with open arms, also got a Santander credit card as well just to check if there was something wrong that I wasn't spotting on my credit report.

I contacted New Day, the company who manage the card for Amazon, they reviewed my application and eventually sent a letter rejecting me again and refusing to give a reason. Not a pleasant experience.

Amazon have commercial deals with both MasterCard and American Express Amazon cards so they will almost certainly get a preferential rate on those networks.

I'm slightly disappointed Amazon are deciding above Visa Credit card holders, in making their choice to stop accepting payments.
Though they obviously see sense in continuing  to accept visa debit transactions.

I'de have preferred consumers be offer a choice over Visa Credit Card charges/payments.

Amazon seem to have removed my Visa card when I went in just now.
But with the not putting VAT on the upfront prices then adding postage at the last minute, giving me Prime when I don't want and haven't asked for it I'm getting  fed up with them. I've had to reclaim that once already.
I'm finding it easier in a rural location to deal direct with other companies and when something is wrong it's much easier to put right and communicate.

Phew! I'm exhausted wading through all the threads on this :)

But without going through the 100 or so individual posts in detail I can't find anthing specific on the add a card £10 promotion.

Anyway, the only points I wanted to make are that for those eligble 1) the promotion is still running despite the T&Cs specififying a 31/12/21 cut-off date, 2) it must be a completely new card never registered ever before 3) the promotional credit expiry is relatively short (approx. 2 months for a new card I registered today)

Has anyone used this yet? I received the offer and the confirmation email says "Thank you for updating your payment method. A £20 credit has been applied to your account. The credit will automatically be applied to your eligible purchase at checkout." I don't actually see the credit anywhere (maybe I'm not looking in the right place) but when I went to make a purchase (of less than £20) it gives me the option to use the promotional balance for the full amount. So that got me thinking...is this offer only applicable to a single purchase i.e. if I buy something for less than £20 is that the end of it or do I retain the balance?
