Thanks for closing my thread! I appreciate the desire to keep the debate together but this thread seems to contain less information than all the other threads I've looked at and its main purpose seems to be to push one particular response by people to this change by Amazon. I'd much rather make my own mind up about what I want to do based on ALL the facts, thanks. So what about reporting the facts including those about when Visa (and Mastercard?) increased their fees, and why, and whether Amazon could avoid the increase by changing where they process UK card payments?

It has been explained why they have made this change, as for your last sentence this is pointless discussing as neither you, I, or anyone on this site is going to influence them to change this.

I agree that there is definitely no need to have multiple threads started purely to share the news, as happened yesterday, although this was perhaps exacerbated by the first thread being created on a different board.

However, I also agree that there's room for another thread for those who wish to discuss the whys and wherefores in more detail, speculative and hypothetical though these may be....

Visa & Amazon will reach a agreement as Visa will not want to lose the money they make from Amazon.

Have to say well done Amazon for making the stand. As only a company with their clout could do it.

Some people use their credit card only when they shop. Many credit cards are visa so that could cost amazon dearly in lost purchases and prime subscriptions.
