Sky q box with no dish

We are about to move house but I doubt we could get the dish up in a suitable place at the new house. We have a few months left on our sky contract so would probably still use the sky q box with no dish. I know the live channels would be lost but stuff like Netflix and YouTube would still be OK. Not sure about stuff like the box sets, catch up services and stuff in the on demand section etc. When we go for this stuff it says "downloading" so am I right to assume this is all done over WiFi with no need for a signal from the dish?
To put it simply... What do we lose by not having a dish signal?
Sky glass might be an option in the future but that's months (years?) away as an option for us

The only thing you'd be able to use is the various apps, such as Netflix, Youtube, etc. You'll have no access to live channels or recordings. Eventually you won't be able to use the box at all as it regularly checks it's connection to the satellite dish and if not connected will stop operating.1

The reviews of Sky Glass so far havent been great, a lot of programmes cant actually be watched on catch up, I would be waiting a very long time to be getting that.
The existing Sky Q (or Sky +) setup without a dish is a bit pointless truth be told.1 -
So.. Stuff like BBC iplayer or itv hub are not classed as apps and can't be used without a dish?neilmcl said:The only thing you'd be able to use is the various apps, such as Netflix, Youtube, etc. You'll have no access to live channels or recordings. As for Netflix.. When I set it up on the q box I can't remember getting log in details that I could use on another device. Is the Netflix service within my sky package tied to the q box?0 -
I can see the advantage for sky in doing a TV with all the services built in over WiFi. But for the customer surely a complete WiFi box would be better.emmajones1976 said:The reviews of Sky Glass so far havent been great, a lot of programmes cant actually be watched on catch up, I would be waiting a very long time to be getting that.

If you take your box to the new house and dont hook it up to a dish it may breach one of the terms of service, yes you can download stuff from the catch up but how long for before Sky catch on I dont know.rickyroma said:

Have you 100% been told you cant have a dish at the new property?
In all truth you need to have a chat with someone at Sky about this.0 -
If you have a "smart" tv then you can use them without a dish or a fire stick/roku/now tv/apple tv boxrickyroma said:

The issue is that Sky Glass isnt a carbon copy of Sky+ or Sky Q as it stands.rickyroma said:

For example if ITV dont put a film they show on a Sunday afternoon on the ITV Hub, you have no way of "recording" it, little things like this clearly need ironing out.1 -
Yeah I can get Netflix elsewhere but can I "dig out" the log in details from sky and use them on another device?debitcardmayhem said:

No. Not sure how you set it up with Sky but your Netflix account should be totally separate and you should have an account login with which to use it on any other compatible device.rickyroma said:

That's to come, but further down the line. It's being tested in other countries, Germany I believe is one.rickyroma said:
