Can anyone shed any light on what these are usually about please? I've had a letter that I will be getting a call this week. I've never even heard of these before and it does sound a bit scary. Google just fills my head with nightmares so I'm scared to look there.

They be prompted by a mismatch between government data about you or may simply be a random check.Maskface said:Can anyone shed any light on what these are usually about please? There seems to be a lot of them at the moment. Essentially, compliance teams are there to ensure the correct benefit entitlement is being paid, however, this is not necessarily a scary thing. Often, DWP will run 'campaigns' where, if you hit certain criteria, you will get a compliance interview or letter. People always assume that it means they have been 'grassed' but this isn't always the case.
As long as you are claiming everything correctly then it will be nothing to worry about

Thank you. I certainly don't think I've been reported for anything as there's nothing wrong with my claim. It's just I've never had this before and the wording of the letter is a bit scary. It's not an interview under caution though so surely if it were a bad thing it wouldn't just be an informal chat over the phone? I do have an anxiety disorder though and this is really making me panic and get scared regardless.kayleighali said:There seems to be a lot of them at the moment. It's a standard letter. You can ring the number on letter and they maybe able to give you some information on what it's about.

After an extended period of very few checks, due to Covid, I'm pleased to hear that the number of checks is being increased. Not suggesting that the OP or anybody else contacted has anything to hide.
