Hey sorry for being quiet, still trying to navigate through the difficult times at work. I seem to be at work all of the time at the moment. This week is going to be a bit of an over full week, but the week after it will settle down hopefully. The children dad has gone away for a month, so I’ve got them full time, which I love but is obv more expensive.I’ve sifted through all of my money and finances again. Trying to figure out where things start and finish and how much I need to survive. It’s complicated but I’m hoping it will even itself out when I know what I’m doing more. The money for the loan and any spare money I’m going to shift at the end of each month if I can, which will make things easier. I just need to keep tabs on it each week. Maybe on a Wednesday night I could sit and do it.The cupboards are absolutely bare at the moment. I have a £10 Lidl voucher and £10 in change which will be my shopping for the week. I shall go tomorrow. We’re off to friends for dinner So that’s easy and I just nipped to the coop as I had no bread at all for the morning and went in with £1.30 of change and came out with 6 sausage rolls, 5 custard donuts and a crusty round loaf, all for £1.23. Which will do us for our picnic tomorrow! Usually I’d spend about £20!More to follow.2

Thanks @Chrystal,
Trying to come up with food for next week.
Porridge for breakfast or toast
Tosties for lunch
dinners
chicken stew x 2
omlette
chicken and ham pie & mash
thai green curry
salmon pasta
snacks
fruit
rich tea
digestives.
I’m so proud of us. Considering we used to go out for a roast every Sunday, were in C£sta every other day. Had breakfast or lunch out multiple times in a week. And now it’s rare. It’s a treat if we do. And even when we do we’re now much more careful what we order to try and make it cost less.I’m really thinking about the food shopping too and what we can get away without buying. We’re doing amazingly. Really helps having OH onboard. I guess when it becomes a necessity, you do whatever it takes. But it’s fast become the Norm and just habit really!4 -
Sorry to blow my own trumpet, I guess I’m just super proud of us.
Other things we’re doing:
I’m freezing things before they go off
also freezing the ends of bread, which are great for emergency toast.Switching everything off at the mains.
I’ve turned the water heat down by quite a lot but no one has noticed!!
I’m being far less fussy on what we eat.
Shopping at lidl only, where as I used to switch between Tesco and sometimes Sainsburys
Making a meal plan and a list.Hmm that’s all I can think of for now.4 -

Thanks @jwil and @Chrystal.I don’t know if everyone knows as I didn’t. But stamps without barcodes can’t be used after Jan 23! I just saw this on the frugal thread. I didn’t know. They live in my purse for about 5 years! You can send them off for free and swap them!According to OH we’ve had our CT rebate thingy. Just went straight in the bank.As for energy prices. I was £600 in credit but have just had a £1000 bill and am
now in debit 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. I pay £187 per month now I’m hoping this is enough for the next bill. I didn’t realise bills were paid like that! I thought it was worked out monthly.
We have a lovely day planned today. I do have to do some work later though but only from home. Also do need to go to lidl as not sure we can last until tomorrow. It’s just whether I get time.Have the busiest week but I can do this.2 -
