Stolen goods

I recently had a washing machine delivered and money and watch was stolen from my property it definitely was one of the drivers while I was in the kitchen , I have been in touch with police and sent email to the CEO obviously it didn’t get as far as him , but I am getting no satisfaction from them as obviously the drivers are saying they didn’t do it. Any ideas how I can get any compensation

    What is your evidence?

Assuming its speculation then you have 6 years for making a claim (5 in scotland) and so wait for the police. If they get a criminal conviction then you have an easy claim to make but if they decide not to pursue you probably wont want to waste your money or time

What evidence do you have that  'it was definitely one of the drivers?

What did the police do (apart from giving you a crime reference number, of course)?

Theft from your property will be covered by your household insurance. They will need the CRN but are the most likely source of any compensation. Whether it's worth making a claim depends on the value of the watch and cash also the policy excess you have agreed.

Great. How are you going to prove it?

So in other words you have no evidence and its fully possible that in a week or two you find the watch down the back of the bedside table or somewhere else where you dont normally put it but did on this occasion... a relative developed paranoia as part of her dementia and frequently called the police on friends, relatives, workmen etc accusing them of theft and without fail the items were always located in the home or she'd forgot that she spent the money on shopping etc.
  • I haven’t got dementia
yes I’m the only person in the flat
there is not much chance in me getting my property back if they are denying talking it that is the reason I mentioned compensation as Currys employed them and only taking their word

If they are denying it and you have no proof then how do you expect to get compensation?
