Three end of contract

My Three contract is coming to an end and in the app it says contract expiration date 2 Nov 2021 and was wondering does that mean the contract ends on the 2nd or after meaning on the 3rd, I will be put on their monthly rolling contract?

I'm looking to switch to Vodafone, do I need to give 30 days notice or can I get my PAC code via text when contract ends?

Your contract has justed reached the end of the minimum term and will carry on as a rolling monthly contract until Three tell you otherwise or you decide to arrange a new contract with them or leave

I recently reached the end of my 12 month contract and received emails from Three detailing the options available to me so I'm presuming you had similar messages. I'm on an £8 contract and they said it would just carry on if I didn't want to change anything.

At this stage I can leave whenever I like (as can you).

    Hi Neil,

Thanks for your reply, in the app it says contract expiration date 2 Nov 2021, do you know if that means it ends on the 2nd or after?

I received a text from Three yesterday that I will be put on a rolling monthly contract (same plan and price).

Nov 2 is the final day of the minimum term, ending at midnight.

Thanks, I got my PAC code today and used it to switch to Vodafone, just wondering if Three will charge me for this month as I haven't used anything?

You'll be charged for your monthly fee regardless of what you've used.

They don't not bill you if you don't use the service.
  • So at the end of my contract in October, Three decided to cancel it and set up a new one. Same package but at double the price. Also, a new contract means I lose the Go Roam benefit of using allowance free when abroad. I was told 12 months ago it would just roll on at the same price.  This is a scam to get out of the Go Roam benefit !!!!   When I called, they simply kept offering me a new lower priced package. No apology / No offer to go back on original contract.   BEWARE !
  • @IW1995 You are not at the end of your contract, you have reached the end of the minimum period for which the service terms were agreed. The contract has continued (that's why you still have a service) but the terms have been changed to your detriment. If you don't like the terms you are now on and you can't negotiate an agreeable alternative with Three then cancel and go get a better deal elsewhere.

You are right to point out that people should be aware that terms may change at the end of minimum contract periods and it is generally true that such changes are rarely in favour of the customer.

Correct, it was at the end of minimum contract but they definitely told me I had been moved to a new contract because they "no longer offer the plan I was on" ... and so I lose the free Go Roam benefit and have to pay double the amount I had signed up to. All without any discussion, just a text to say "welcome to Three".  Chancers !

As you were out of your minimum term and used a PAC to leave 3, they are only allowed to charge you up until the day you left. 3 will produce a final bill on your regular billing date; as your account is likely to be in credit, a refund can be requested via online chat.

    Taken from Ofcom's website:

    Notice-period charges banned

The second biggest hurdle switchers face (after cancelling their previous service) is trying to avoid paying their old and new mobile companies at the same time – with three in ten customers finding this difficult.

So, from Monday, Ofcom has banned mobile providers from charging for notice periods running after the switch date. This will save UK mobile customers a combined £10m each year.
