Boiler installed wrong boiler (Advice)

That has nothing to do with the filter though as the filter is on your CH side, not DHW. You really shouldn't be opening the filter unless you know what you're doing as it could lead to failure and leaks.smace78 said:neilmcl said:@smace78 I don't see any issue with the amount of stuff on the Magnaclean filter, particularly after first use. Any reason why you think you needed to open it, it's not something you should normally be doing.
I am getting issues with the boiler going freezing part the way through filling up a bath. Also suspect they did not do a flush that we paid extra for before installing the boiler so wantted to know if this was normal after a new install but I think this is not the place to ask that.0 -

So I ask again, what do you want as a resolution?smace78 said:Sorry, It was a bit much just did not want to leave anything out.Summary
I had a boiler fitted and they fitted the wrong one I contacted them about this and they said it was my fault because I had accepted a quote that was updated from the original but I had not seen this till after the work had been done so I was not aware that the boiler was different. Got a 25kw Bosch installed but should have been a 30kw Bosch. They have offered to refund the difference of £120.I am sure this company is not going to fix there mistake and wondering what would be the best option for me. Should I take this to small claims?
Any reasons why you think a 25kw boiler isn't sufficient for your property? We would like the installer to replace with original 30kw because I am concerned if I accept the 25kw it will mean that when we install the shower unit later and there is not enough power then we would have to replace it with one that can, that they recommended in the first place so I end out of pocket for their mistake not mine.I am still awaiting a reply for the information that I provided above but just would like some advance on what would be the best way to deal with this as I am not familar with these situations.- What should be the next step if they do not reply?
- Should I wait a few weeks for a reply before I go back and take it to the next step?

The 30Kw version has exactly the same heat output as the 25kw one. The only difference is the 30Kw has a slightly higher flow rate for hot water, 10.8 as opposed to 9 litres per minute which may allow you to run a bath faster but won't be that noticeable using a shower.smace78 said:daveyjp said:What is the impact to you of having a 25kw and not a 30kw boiler?
We was recommend the 30kw boiler by 2 other suppliers including this one because of the house size, larger than normal radiators and the plan to install a shower unit soon.1 -
If you're adamant that you want the boiler as requested then you should write a letter before action (LBA) outlining what you want to happen followed by a small claims action if they don't comply.smace78 said:neilmcl said:

You didn't say how you paid the final invoice, I'm assuming it wasn't by credit card?
One thing you should be aware regarding their refund, as they seem to imply the refund is based on the difference in cost to them, ie, the trade price. In reality the difference in retail price between the 25kw and 30kw models is likely to be higher.0 - What should be the next step if they do not reply?

Please define "going freezing".
Combi boilers cannot normally fill baths with the tap fully open, however even the 25 kW boiler should be fine for a shower.
If, however, the boiler is cutting out that would indicate a fault, so check for any codes when it happens.0 -
How big is your house and how many bathrooms do you have?
The 25kW one is recommended for small properties and flats that have limited hot water demands. The 30kW one is for medium sized properties e.g. more than one bathroom.
If the 25kW is not suitable, then no point waiting. Their offer of the commercial price difference is not sufficient if you were to accept a partial refund. It should be the difference in the fitted price. e.g. if you got one of the other companies that quoted to tell you the price of the 25kW one fitted, then take that away from the 30kW quote you had from the same company.
But... if you don't live in a small property then clearly you need the 30kW boiler. Just WRITE to them informing them of their mistake, state the quote clearly states 30 kW, you were not sent any digital paperwork until AFTER the boiler was fitted, all your other quotes were for the 30 kW boiler as this is what you want and need, and that you would like them to install the correct boiler.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Actually the 4000 range, whether it's the 25Kw or 30Kw, is "perfect for small to medium sized homes with one bathroom". If you have two or more bathrooms then you should be looking at either the Greenstar CDi or 8000 series. The ONLY difference in the 4000 range is, as mentioned, slightly better hot water flow in the 30Kw model.pinkshoes said:How big is your house and how many bathrooms do you have?

If you are not happy with the incorrect boiler being fitted, then stick to your guns. It looks like the boss is reasonable and has responded. If you are future planning then you may need the extra capacity.
Set it out clearly for him by writing, but don't 'muddy the domestic water' with side issues like filters and hot water running cold.0 -
No CH system needs anywhere near 25kW to run it; the peak kW output requirement is determined by the hot water demand. Which is why people are asking you if the boiler is providing adequate hot water on demand.smace78 said:daveyjp said:What is the impact to you of having a 25kw and not a 30kw boiler?
