The energy crisis is not on the scale of the covid pandemic.Mstty said:However I so agree if there is to be some common ground Sunak/Truss and Boris could put something through now1 -
I guess the difference is the mental health issues of those who are extremely worried about their health and feeding their families.
Not to be dismissed lightly IMO.
I think it’s difficult for people to have confidence in our government that all will be ok.0 -
This fact this article is "news" is ridiculous. Of course suppliers are going to put up DD's before October and it would be damn irresponsible of them not to.

Just seen this. It is a stupid news article with a misleading headline and will cause needless worry to the public.

Of course they will put them up so the people that don't realise what's happening, because they don't want to know, go off and blow it all over Christmas.
Those that know what's happening can switch to whole bill variable DD because they can plan, pay and they know what a kWh costs.1 -
Thanks Ofgem for ‘suggesting’ to energy suppliers that there is no reason why they should not increase direct debits prior to the implementation of the October price cap. It has long been apparent where Mr Brearley’s priorities lie. It must be nice and warm living in the pocket of the suppliers.Interesting that British Gas has stated that it has no intention of doing so. Well, it HAD no intention, but likely does now…0

Does it really benefit customers if suppliers like EDF who only do a direct debit review every six month would for the reviews happening now to October not take into account the big increase?
Is it really helpful if the customer only starts paying in February for the higher cost, and get even more added to the direct debit because there ise a huge debt that needs to be recovered?0 -

EDF is supposedly going onto the Octopus system, so that will be resolved soon.
That EDF should have a better system does not change my statement that a user will be worse off if they will not include at least parts of the increase into the review.
I am not even sure they will do it, somehow I would be surprised if they do.1
