Hanging PC desktop tower on the wall

Looking at this but finding images of people having hung components to a piece of ply which is then mounted to the wall - not what I want.

My desktop tower is currently on a bookshelf shelf which is on the floor. Not great but i'm very limited for space in this 2mtr-x-2mtr room.

Thought recently about the possibility of mounting it to the wall. Not yet sure whether that'll be possible and if it is then the safety concern of doing that. Anyone here have this setup? Would you risk it?
House is a 1930s house - no plasterboard here.

For the most part as far as cabling goes it should be ok except for maybe the ethernet cable. Right now there's about a 20-30mtr cable that runs from the router downstairs up the wall downstairs, under the floorboards in this room, up through the floorboards, through cable trunking and then in to the back of the PC. As I don't fancy lifting up carpet and getting furniture pulled out any then I may have to extend that with another cable with a M-F end on either end.

Also the desk is the IKEA Malm if that helps any with anything that may be on the market that i'm not aware of. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/malm-desk-white-60214159/

Just seeing if it's a possibility to get this raised of the floor or not. I keep on top of it with dusting but it'd be better off the floor.

Wall brackets for a microwave? Although you'll need to find a way to strap it on for safety

You can get couplers which "join" RJ45 cables together if you need longer lengths, they are quite cheap, I can see a pack of 10 for £4 on Amazon.

Re: Putting a PC tower on the wall - it can be done (you probably have to replace the case you have now), but it may be more beneficial (maybe) to consider getting the smallest case you can get away with (depending on your components) to reduce the weight and then you may be able to get away with something like this if your monitor has VESA mounts, as you could just shove it in a corner for storage and pull it out when you need it:

This is designed for TVs but many PC monitors have the VESA mountings too, though since they are smaller the mounting brackets will stick out.  With a smaller computer case it may be able to sit on the shelf designed for video/DVD/whatever.

    Google desk hutch.

Build a custom shelf on top of the desk above the monitor.

That desk is only 140 wide a set of deep high shelves would still fit in 2m width.

Some idea of your room layout would be handy 2x2 is plenty big enough but doors windows and radiators can comprise.
  • Thanks.

Just to give a clearer picture of the layout, the desk is shoved all the way to the side wall with no room to shove it any further. So as i'm sat at the desk it is all the way left and all the way forward up against the window wall.
To the right of this against the right side wall are 2 IKEA bookshelves which span the entire width of the wall to the right. The bookshelf has glass doors.
Between the desk and the bookshelves is just enough room to fit a waste paper basket which I have to move if i want to open the door to access the bookshelf in the corner. Things are that tight.
My office chair takes up a good section of room in the middle. To my left which the door opens on to is a small radiator.
Behind me is a ledge that seems to have been built as part of the wall probably when the house was built as I've seen it in other photos of houses for sale in the area.

Things are a little cramped. :)

Does not the tower have cabling, USB ports at the rear? I have a tower which I do not use often but has Front CD drive and USB, Speaker and M/phone sockets at front.

Ditch the doors on the book cases.

Never sensible in small rooms nowhere to swing.

Pimp the one in the desk corner with a shelf at desk hight across the gap.

Any reason not to put a shelf up for it? No need for a "computer shelf" from pc world.

A mate of mine jerry rigged something up using plywood and a couple of shelf brackets.  All the components mount to plywood and he threw the case away.  He was telling me that he occasionally has a slight overheating problem so he has a desktop fan that he can use to blow air over it if needed.
