Can you post a picture of either your meter today v tomorrow (tomorrow obvs) or do you have an in home display for a smart meter? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

Fridge or freezer running continuous, should be off far more than on.Forget that , you say they are new & efficient.0

Sea_Shell said:We are a couple in a 4 bed detached. We also do about 4/5 washing loads a week, but no tumble dryer or dishwasher.
Our main oven is electric (gas hob) and we vacuum each room once a week.
We use approx 1700 kWh a year.
My daughter and I live in a 2 bed terrace, and use 1,800 kwh a year (+/-50kwh)..... and I do 2 washes a week and as little vacuuming as possible. No TD or DW and a EO + gas hob the same as you. I know 3 items that can bring it down 300-500kwh a year tho ...TV/sky box and pc.
As for my average 2.5 a day in summer and 5-5.2 in winter.1 -
Is your high consumption something you've only just noticed, or has it always been high and you want to now tackle it, due to increased costs ahead? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1

Didn't use the tumble dryer yesterday so am at a loss at how we managed to use 16 units! Literally what I have listed. We have no kettle, instead a boiling water tap and a built in coffee machine which we make 2 cups per day. The mains water is used minimally as the other option for normal hot water is a different knob.
I have been checking it every couple of hours to see what is going on and listing ehat we have been doing.
Chest freezer in garage? Power to shed/outhouse? Video game console's?
Anything that needs to heat up uses lots of energy, so your hob could be some of the culprit, maybe your hot water tap coffee machine thing too I suppose they need to be on standby to know about the hot water command when you want it...(but I don't know enough about these to comment)....
Buy yes 15 units a day is on the high side, I don't like it when I reach 5 a day... But on the bright side it's not as much as American's who average 33 a day apparently.0 -
When I put the electio everhot on like an aga I use about the same but that on 24hr

I don't think 14 units a day is a lot personally, I use that in a 2 bed with 2 fish tanks and a pc always running.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0

We do have power to the summer house but nothing is on at all. No PCs charging over the past few days. Yesterday I started measuring for 24 hours. Start was 6253. We did 1 washing load and 1 table dryer load. By 12.30pm it was 6260. I baked a cake, listened to some music in the kitchen whilst baking, made dinner, watched TV and went to bed at 11.45pm and the reading was 6274.0
