I am hoping you lovely lot can help. I live with my husband in a 4 bed end of terrace house. We have gas central heating from a combi boiler.  We replaced all of our bulbs to LED ones. We have an A+++ rated washing machine which according to the manufacturer, uses 0.64kw per full load on a 40 degree temp.  We have a dishwasher which we use every other day on average, washing machine 4 times  week max. We cook using electric, new NEFf appliances and cook most days.  We vacuum about 3 to 4 times a week. We have the TV on most evenings for about 3 to 4 hours. We have a hone each which we charge during the day Sotherton are not left on overnight. We swith theTV off properly and only have the fridge and freezer, again, new energy efficient appliances on.  I have been monitoring the usage as prices have gone up so much and have found that this usage s double the average high usage for a family in  4 bed house. Is this really considered high usage? I realise that averages are not accurate, but there are 3 listed averages as low, medium and high. How on earth does anybody have a low usage??? I really do not understand.  Yesterday, we used 14 units of energy which would be still over 1000 units over what is considered high over a year yet We were out most of the da. I baked a cake aswell as our dinner but that was all!

We spend £35 per month on dual fuel
We live in a 3 bed semi with full GCH and use it when it gets cold - we don't leave it running 24/7
Both of us shower daily and we use the washing machine 4 or 5 times a week
    We don't have a dishwasher
We use  3 units of electricity and 5 of gas per day on average

Yes, 14 units a day is high.  I do notice a few units more are used when I cook.  I try and use pressure cooker or microwave  or slow cooker when I can.  I have induction hob but maybe you have gas hob.  We are in same size house as you, just me and husband, oil heating, dish washer same amount, two fridge freezers, Hoover only once a week and our consumption is average 8 units per day but in winter with dark nights and colder nights it will increase to 11.

What’s your annual electricity useage? We are on about 4000 in the same house style, though we do have a fish pond and 2 marine fish tanks that is the major expense for our bills

It is heating applications that eat the electricity. The washing may be efficient but do you really need to do 4 loads a week? You don't say how you dry the washing. A tumble drier, if you have one, would be the biggest culprit.

Yes, it seems high so a bit more detective work might pay off - readings several times a day with notes of which appliances were on would be a start.  Do you have electric showers?  Any underfloor or other electric heating at all?

Do you have an electric immersion heater, and have you checked it's off!

    Fish tank?  Pond pump?

We are a couple in a 4 bed detached.  We also do about 4/5 washing loads a week, but no tumble dryer or dishwasher.

Our main oven is electric (gas hob) and we vacuum each room once a week.

We use approx 1700 kWh a year.

We have no immersion or any ponds, underfloor heating is off, shower for 3 mons each approx but via mains gas heating, so not electric.  Didn't use the tumble dryer yesterday so am at a loss at how we managed to use 16 units! Literally what I have listed. We have no kettle, instead a boiling water tap and a built in coffee machine which we make 2 cups per day. The mains water is used minimally as the other option for normal hot water is a different knob.
I have been checking it every couple of hours to see what is going on and listing ehat we have been doing.

How does that instant hot water tap work?   Does it heat any water, in preparedness, even if your not draining it off.
