  • I doubt many people actually by "coal" these days. If you have a stove or an old Parkray room heater (fire with the glass door) for example, you'll be burning a smokeless solid fuel like Phurnacite or Taybrite or Stoveheat, etc. Not the old fashioned coal out the ground.

    You could try sea coal, was a guy near me selling it £2 a bag last time.
  • Welsh steam coal is the best value for me, £6.50 a 25kg bag, mixed in with welsh Anthracite, will give 18-20 fires ( Each lasting all day) Works out around 80p per burn. 
  • my coal merchant delivers 25kg bags and they are not open order approx 20 every autumn
