NO Company taking on new supply (3 new flats)
Can anyone help? I've spent yesterday and today trying to find a supplier. We have the MPan numbers from Western Power Distribution so need a company to install meters and supply electricity. Eon stopped yesterday; SSE No new business (SWALEC); EDF; OVO: Br Gas; Spoken to a lot of nice people. Listened to a variety of music. Got nowhere on the internet.
I guess the regulator will step in sometime but these three new flats with first fix wiring need energy to progress the build.
Is it time to panic yet?

I use Good Energy. They aren't cheap, but they may still be taking on new customers.

You raise a very interesting question...but sorry I don't know the answer.
I wonder what large developers do, on their new builds, when they need 100's of meters fitted, and power supplied to the properties? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Ordinarily it isn't a problem, plenty of suppliers happy to get the business, right now though, not so much...Sea_Shell said:alun4 said:Can anyone help? Well, yes, i meant in the current climate.
We have 100s of homes going up near us at the moment, they'll all need meters and supply. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
In the new build I bought a flat in a couple of years ago everyone the meters were installed by Eon and everyone was automatically on an Eon tariff (until they quickly changed to get a better deal).Sea_Shell said:alun4 said:Can anyone help? I notice Scottish Power aren't on you list (some might say, understandably) but from my observations, when I was a meter reader, is that Eon, BG and EDF tended to tender for the big developments but you'd see SP in smaller developments like apartments. Worth a try, anyway. Shell seem to be doing the SoLR heavy lifting, at the moment, presumably to get to "Big-6" proportions, quickly, so may not be averse to some "normal" business.

I am on transfer/hold to new installations with Shell. I have been listening to Shell music for 30 minutes now but I will have to go out shortly to meet the bus with our child on it! Is Scottish Power SSE ? If it is I should have put it on the list!0

I see it's not .... first thing in the morning then!

Shell have got a few of the failures but in total they are all still smaller than Avro which went to Octopus.Verdigris said:Shell seem to be doing the SoLR heavy lifting, at the moment, presumably to get to "Big-6" proportions, quickly, so may not be averse to some "normal" business.
