Anyone seen or tried getting a walk in booster shot?
Can I just go to my local walk in vaccination centre and get one, or is there still an age limit? How do they decide what vaccine to give you?

There are eligibility criteria.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
We have a list of walk in centres near us - most are only offering 1 and 2 dose, but a couple state they are offering boosters if you had your last shot 182 days before. Maybe see if there is a similar list near you (ours is accessed via our local borough website) or maybe give the centre a quick ring1

Ok so you cannot book until 6 months and 1 day then have to wait till your appointment - which could be at say the 7 month point?

The idea was to combat the exact problem that you describe. However, it was a single news article from a single newspaper and I've not seen anything anywhere else to support that this is actually going to happen.
I might have a look again to see if I can find the article.0 -
Certainly unable to book yesterday when 5 days short of six months .

Given the number of people requiring a booster. There has to be a system in place at the outset until the majority receive theirs. Many NHS workers are well beyond 6 months.0

If you fit the eligibility criteria you can attend a walk-in centre no less than 182 days from the date of your second jab. Unless you have a letter from your GP or the NHS indicating that you are cleared for an earlier booster, you won't get one before that.
You are also unlikely to get one if you do not qualify. Once the targeted cohorts are done, there is a chance that boosters MIGHT be rolled out in general population, but there is no guarantee as yet. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
