NHS TEST AND TRACE NOTIFICATIONS

My wife and I have had two recent trips to Spain by air. On both occasions we have duly completed all forms and tests .In September we had a positive contact notification without any specific detail and had to isolate.
This has now happened a second time although due to rule changes we do not have to isolate.
My suspicion is Test and Trace are sending these positive contact notifications randomly or by an automated program for Data Gathering whether a positive contact has been made or not. We do not have the test and trace App. and have proved negative in all subsequent tests.
It would be interesting to if this indeed the case and other travellers experience,

Why would they do that ?1

Seems to me that spending hours cooped up in a metal tube with a bunch of strangers increases the risk of infection, not to mention other aspects of travel (within/to/from airports at each end, etc), so why suspect randomness? The vast majority of those contacted test negative but in itself that doesn't mean that the process is flawed....2

I remember going through airport security screening once after questioning why the alarm sounded was told it activated after a given amount of people went through.

My DS and DIL travelled together on holiday, seated together and remained together on the flight and at airports yet my son has been pinged and my DIL hasn’t . The only time they were any distance apart was when or other visited the toilets, so it must have been then. Luckily they both currently work from home and there is no need to isolate anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you do have the app to get pinged, go into settings in the app, then other data and it will show the date of the encounter.
Or did you get a phone call to tell you that you had been in contact with someone? That has nothing to do with any app and is reliant on the person testing positive giving details of contacts to the contact tracing call centre.2 -
My understanding which is backed up with personal experience is that if one person on a short haul flight tests positive on day 2 after travel the whole plane gets contacted and asked to isolate unless double jabbed. 4 of us on plane in September all sat at various places on the plane were contacted, 3 by text and email and one by phone (obviously ticked different type of contact). When speaking to track and trace on phone they explained the position.5
