Another one for me - cancelled a magazine subscription that I'm no longer getting value from - and have the reply confirming it has been stopped now. Should get one more issue I think - with nothing more to pay out.

I'm with Shell @DawnW. They seem fine. The deal I'm on they said all my leccie came from renewable sources. They did put up my DD by a tenner without asking me, but other than that they seem fine. I do everything online so can't comment on their customer service.

I picked up my prescriptions today. As I get medication regularly a prepayment certificate really does save me a fortune (can only speak for England. Not sure how it works in Wales and N. Ireland, and in Scotland all prescriptions are free I believe).

Thanks for that @Elisheba. I do everything online as well, so should be ok unless a better deal presents itself. Not likely atm according to Martin though!
  • Dawn - we're with Shell for broadband - not quite the same I know but we've found them OK.

    Update to this then:
    Plans for this week:
    - return to regular checking of survey sites
    - Cash prolific out once it hits £20
    - Cook from freezer/fridge/cupboards
    - Heating is staying off!
    - Take stuff to charity shop and not buy anything while there!
    - Buying our (needed) replacement bread machine using 20% off voucher
    - Buying our next chunk of Premium Bonds

    I have already:
    - Added a chunk of points to OnePoll
    - Added several pounds to prolific
    - Booked a (needed) hotel room for a couple of months time using a Hotelsdotcom reward night, and made sure that the room included breakfast for the £15 in actual money it cost me!
    - Sent a letter closing a now cleared 0% BT card
    - Cancelled a no-longer-needed magazine subscription
    - Booked our Good Food Show tickets using a 20% off code.
    - Cashed out Prolific

I can see this thread could be very good for maintaining focus!

Yesterday I melted all my scrag end of soap with a bit of water in the microwave and made a new bar of soap out of them.  So that's a few pence saved :-).  Making bread and brownies today and still got the heating off.  Thank goodness it is as mild as it is - keeping the heating off is no hardship at all.

I did try to make potato peel crisps the other day, but even keeping them in an airtight tin in the fridge they became soggy the next day so that was no good. I might try to put them in the freezer to go in a soup next time.

    Evening all :)
Not much done today apart from work, but I have:
Had home grown raspberries with breakfast - they are still coming, albeit only a small bowlful every couple of days now.
Folded and put away dry washing. No ironing needed B)
Sold something that I won't use again on FB Marketplace and listed 3 more items, all my own personal / household stuff rather than business stock. Nice bit of decluttering if they all go, plus a few extra pennies!
Checked banks after lots of money moving shenanigans over the last few days
Small shop in Lidls, managed to get one of their £1.50 veg boxes. Had to throw away 2 green potatoes and a small bunch of  slimy basil, but got lots of good potatoes, leeks, parsnips, apples, onions and a small cabbage. I will have a soup and pie filling making session tomorrow, as I have a bit of space in the freezer :)
Dinner was some of the mince and onion pie I made yesterday, with (mashed) potatoes and cabbage from the veg box, and gravy.

  • Morning all!

Had a bit of a purge on "stuff to do" last night so my weekly aims now look like this:

    Plans for this week:
    - return to regular checking of survey sites
Cash prolific out once it hits £20
    - Cook from freezer/fridge/cupboards
    - Heating is staying off!
    - Take stuff to charity shop and not buy anything while there!

    - Sent a letter closing a now cleared 0% BT card
    - Cancelled a no-longer-needed magazine subscription
    - Booked our Good Food Show tickets using a 20% off code.
    - Cashed out Prolific
    - Bought Premium Bonds
    - All meals so far this week from fridge/freezer/cupboards and tomorrow planned out ready
    - heating remains off but not sure for home much longer...candles to be lit tonight!
    - re-set our electricity monitor with the new unit rates - O-M-G that was an eye opener. Gulp. Might have wandered round the place for quite a while trying to work out what was using "so much power" until we realised that it was just "the new normal". Gulp again.
