Unfortunately DH didn't get back from the specs shop until 2.15, and since it's a 40-minute drive and the NT house cafe closes at 3.30 and the grounds at 4.00, we decided that it was too late to go. DH immediately went for his Plan B and took himself off to the war games shop (no surprise!). I sat down with a cuppa and the next thing I knew an hour had passed and my cuppa was cold. I took Rosie out for her walk a bit earlier than usual, and we made it all round the covert without being bombarded by the squirrels. Back home, I mowed the lawn, bagged up all the soil from the collapsed veg trug, filled the green bin, and cleaned up the back yard as best I could in the dark. [Memo to self: remind DS1 to replace the non-functioning outside light - he bought a new one for me about 6 months ago!) Most of the washing is dry-ish and only needs a short tumble before hanging on the airers in the bathroom. I still have HHI to do (pillowcases only), and two beds to make up with the clean bedding before we can fall into them. But I enjoyed the gardening , and it has definitely been good for my MH.

pigpen said:I think we all need a mental health week.. We have a LOT of sickness and stress and worry to deal with, we are all sounding very run down and in need of some self care.
Maybe we should have a week of dailies only and practice some self love and positive thinking and doing the things we love!! some early nights, some long baths and meeting up with people whose company we enjoy rather than people we are obligated to spend time with.

Yes please to a self care week. I am always in awe of how much we deal with as a collective on this thread, but we do it with good humour and our online friends by our side.
NATTY - I am sending you big love.
And I am in for the Christmas card swap, I’ll email you honey xx
The fire is slowly dying so it’s almost time for me to let the dog out for a wee and take myself off to bed. Love to you all xxx

You have all been kind about my arrangements in the past, so to start the mental health vibes I will offer all of you a share in the flowers I did for my friend's funeral which was today. Jill was a kind person who would be very happy to share them with you.

Narco, they are beautiful. You did Jill proud. I hope the day went as nicely as she deserved. Be kind to yourself xx
I have now discovered OH has taken 6 boxes of cold and flu medication in the last few days.. now there is none for me!

Thanks Natty. I always feel bad about not keeping up because it's like being part of a circle of friends at work, not working, and then turning up for the works night out once a year.Must do some Flying today so that I can crack on with more knickers with a clear conscience. Managed to finish a pair and then make two more completely from scratch yesterday and then a fish pie which, even if I say it myself, was rather wonderful. Lid1 make the best Bechemel sauce ever if anyone's looking for a cheat.Better is good enough.9

Beautiful flowers, Narc0 - you have an eye for shape and colour x
Honey Bear, even if you're not able to pop in regularly, your encouragement still echoes in my ears and drives me on! I am slowly absorbing Dana K White. Her principles work with cupboard decluttering and general tidying up, so I am trying to apply them to my family history papers. A ring binder is a container, right? And I don't have to declutter *and* organise at the same time. Better is good - not perfection, but better - and better is what I am aiming for!
This morning I have put away the can of oil that I used on the mower yesterday (or was it Wednesday?), put 3 scarves that I no longer wear into the donate box, cleaned black mould (!!!!!) off the outside of the FF door in the utility, and texted my friend S. I'm off out for lunch shortly with another friend, J. The sun is shiningand DH is happy to cook himself a mini fry-up for his lunch.

Everyone elses cold seems to be getting better.. in true style I am getting worse and only just got out of bed. I have a raging temp, full of mucus, pounding head, laryngitis and the sneezing has aggravated my neuralgia.. I am doing nothing today other than feeling very sorry for myself and trying not to cough up or sneeze out any internal organs.
Squeak on with her work, thankfully OH is off today so he has had a fair bit to do.
I have a parcel to return and to order someone elses main CP
