Similar situation to mine, it seems. IHT205 and probate applied for online on 4/10/21 and requested documents sent the same day, received on 5/10/21.TomServo said:IHT205 and Probate applied for online on 11/10/21.
Will sent 19/10/21, and signed for on 20/10/21.
Still no acknowledgement yet that they've received the Will.
IHT still 'In Review'.
I could have sworn I read somewhere to allow them 14 days after documents were sent to acknowledge receipt, but all I can hear is crickets. Maybe I imagined that bit.0 -
It's on the confirmation email the Probate department send to you, after you've submitted your application.I could have sworn I read somewhere to allow them 14 days after documents were sent to acknowledge receipt, but all I can hear is crickets. Maybe I imagined that bit.
As of today, still no indication that they've received the Will we sent, so I spoke with them on webchat. They confirmed it has been received.
Playing the old waiting game.0 -
Ah yes, it was over a month ago I received that email. No wonder I couldn't remember what it said.TomServo said:

We’ve just been told that the letters of administration have been received by our solicitor, 11 months after we first instructed the solicitor to take on our case.0

The application to HMCTS went in around 3 months ago. We had to wait for inheritance tax to be paid before that.0

For my late husband probate applied for 1/10 ,sent will and death certificate ( helpline asked as having problems seeing on line !) was signed for 4/10 .received death certificate back in post 3/52 ago no other info oar online confirmation.
9/11 received confirmation on line that they’d received it ,
10 min later email saying it was approved and would get paper documents within 10/7 .
there was no inheritance tax due
their helpline had queried why it was needed ,I replied Premium Bonds and they sighed !
Documents giving Grant of Probate received in the post 11/11 .
now to do further battles with Premium Bonds .!1 -
An update:
Yesterday I realised I'd not received an email confirming receipt of my documents within the 14-day timescale the Probate Office allow themselves, so I rang them and a very pleasant woman stated they'd been received and were awaiting examination. At 1254hrs today I received their email confirming receipt.Less than two hours later I have another email stating "We approved your probate application". Yay!That's exactly six weeks since they received my documents (although they do say to allow 10 working days to receive the grant in the post).Judging by other posts on here, it seems the Probate Registry is catching up with their backlog, especially with reasonably straightforward applications.0 -
I submitted my probate application online on 12th November and posted the Will the same day. Today (17th) I had an email from HMCTS at 11:33 to say that they had all the documents and that it can take up to 8 weeks to process. Literally 1 minute later, at 11:34, I received a second email to say my application had been approved and that I should receive the grant in the next 10 days. I think @DancingBadger is probably right that the backlog has reduced considerably, although as suggested my application was pretty straightforward.

Thanks for that. They clearly aren't working through them in any particular order. I sent mine in on the 5th with the paperwork delivered on the 8th. Not heard anything yet but there is no great rush.SiliconChip said:I submitted my probate application online on 12th November and posted the Will the same day.
