I don't think you need to worry yet. We have just bought in Scotland, and we waited just over 3 weeks for the written/qualified acceptance and a further 3 weeks for the title documentation.  We were cash buyers and the whole process from verbal offer to completion took 8 weeks.   But due to some issues missives were only completed - on a Wednesday - 2 days before completion.        Our solicitor was very good at keeping in touch though so we always knew what was or wasn't going on.      Hope you hear something soon.
Oh that's reassuring!  Can't for the life of me understand why it's takes so long for the written acceptance and title deeds to be sent though!!!!

Hoping ours spans out like yours did. 8 weeks would mean we only have 5 left which would be good and mean we may get there before xmas!!!!

A little annoyed with not getting a reply from my email though :( BUT, going to stay optimistic, after you have had a similar situation. Thanks for sharing yours :)

I verbally offered mid December, price negotiated and offer accepted the same day.
Solicitors formal offer went over 2 days later.
New year EA sent details out to everyone.
    Mortgage offer received January.
New date of entry offered to seller, due to mortgage term.
    Covid hit.
    Mortgage extension received, April.
Formal acceptance received and missives concluded.
Picked up the keys the next day, 1 May.

I kept asking if the formal offer was accepted and was told no, but don't worry about it, everything is fine.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Thanks for the reassurance. Glad it went well for you... Going to ask about a possible date as no date was ever mentioned and from some replies I have received they say a date should have been agreed at the offer time!!!  Fingers crossed we get more info today. Beginning to think we should have chosen another firm for our conveyancing...

What did your offer say for the date of entry?

We just contacted the EA's recommended solicitors and put in our offer.

We weren't aware a date was mentioned at this point.

In England, it's near the end of the conveyancing that a date is agreed.

If we had known we would have put a date down.

All the paralegal said was I need to advise you the seller is separating, so assumed from this it may take a bit longer but 3 weeks with no movement is not giving me good vibes ;(

Would have been useful for the solicitors to bother sending you a copy of the offer they had submitted on your behalf - it will say something about the date of entry, though often these days that's just "to be agreed" which is fairly meaningless.

And using the solicitors recommended by the (sellers!) estate agents isn't always a great idea, but you are where you are...

It sure would have be useful!  Not too worried re date but it does help for arranging removals etc.

Re EA recommendation, we have learned the hard way I think ;)
  • Re entry date - I can't quite remember but our offer said something like by mutual agreement as we were very flexible.  Our solicitor phoned quite early on in the process  with a date suggested by the vendors, and then that was in their writen acceptance.   So I would think it's quite reasonable for you to get in touch with your solicitor and see if there have been any discussions about it and suggesting what you would like to aim for.   I suppose it is a bit trickier in your case if you have 2 vendors to deal with though hopefully they are working together to get the property sold.   Hope you see some progression this week.

It was the solicitor that advised missives could only be concluded on a Friday in Scotland.
In that case your solicitor was talking complete nonsense.

Does sound like nonnsense to me.
It's by mutual agreement between the parties.
For my last purchase the missives were concluded on a Tuesday and entry date was a few weeks later on a Wednesday.
