Sorry, Manxman, you did reach that conclusion a few posts back and I should have acknowledged.
At least we are in agreement.1 -

Thanks for your helpful replies.
I eventually spoke to the executive team as I was getting nowhere.
Currys has agreed as there is no like for like exchange available they have refunded the machine in full as the uplift number from the manufacturer authorises them to do so.
They have apologised the issues caused by their reps. This is the process that should have been followed in the first place.

Thanks for returning to tell us how it ended, Dan. I'm glad it went well eventually.
Your post will be really useful for other readers with similar problems.0 -
Well done. It demonstrates that persistence pays off if you stick your ground when you know you are right.
(I presume there is an agreement between Grundig and Currys that Currys are meant to fulfill Grundig'd warranty obligations. It's probably exactly the sort of agreement many Currys staff don't understand)0 -
When our fridge stopped working after a week. Currys sent someone from manufacture who said not repairable. I was sent the uplift code to pass to currys so they could arrange for old one to be picked up and new one delivered. We paid extra & had a different model supplied.Alderbank said:
They can't repair it so they have issued an uplift number to Currys. The details of these numbers is hidden in commercial secrecy but normally that would result in Currys simply supplying a new replacement. This would have the balance of Grundig's warranty (still about 2 years left).Life in the slow lane0
