Pretty much any regular donation, however small or large, will result in a bombardment of e-mails band/or post asking you to give more. Once a charity has your contact details, that's it. They're always after more. Oh. and the same is true of political donations.
Under GDPR they can only use your details for what you agree to - and it should be possible to opt out of all contact if you wish and can navigate their tick boxes. I have a monthly donation to MSF and no contact at all.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Not a charity- but you can set up a DD to Park for their Christmas 'club'.
I pay around £1.70 pm and at the end of their collecting period- 11 or 12 months get 2 x M&S £10 gift cards posted to me. (there are no admin charges.)
Maybe you could choose just one £10 card?
I have just started 'saving' for next year! That has been one easy DD but not covered by financial services.
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Why the need to have a bunch of £1 DD's? Is this to access a bank account bonus or something?0

Account switch bonuses often require direct debits to be switched to qualify for the bonus, Santander and Nationwide current switch offers being an example. Other reasons are ongoing rewards such as NatWest/RBS Rewards or Barclays Blue Rewards schemes.
The easiest way to get a direct debit without actually spending is to take out a Post Office savings account (ignoring their appalling customer servie/flaky website) as they take deposits via direct debit. Unfortunately they, like many others before them, are removing this facility as of March 2022, hence all the posts about how else to generate direct debits to enable receipt of switch bonuses or ongoing rewards.0 -

You can set up 2 direct debits via this method? Have there ever been any examples of banks refusing to pay out switch bonuses if the DD's are from there, because surely it's obvious?1
